Very nice hotel, center of town, welcoming staff and the food was very good. Floors are a bit creaky due to buildings age. Thurso seems to be a stop for people going on to Orkney, but if i needed a base to see Caithness, i would stay at the Pentland. Single room reasonably priced.

Clean and comfortable. Convenient for town centre and for a walk on the the beach. Street parking available a very short distance away. Warm welcome at reception. Excellent food at the on-site restaurant. Excellent breakfast, with staff member Maureen providing a superb and enthusiastic level of customer service. If you are a solo traveler, or are under retirement age, this is not the hotel for you. Bus tours are priority and occupy the staffs full attention. I was unable to get a meal at the hotel and actually had to visit other hotels to eat. Try Manor House or Holborn Hotel.

Our room was very small and a little worn. We spent one night there and left the next day for Orkney. Upon returning we stayed a second night and our room was a lot more spacious as well as updated. I would suggest looking at your room upon check-in as the hotel seems to be in different stages of remodel. The breakfast was very good and the food in the restaurant as well.
