The Poet's House, Luxury and Solitude on 100 acres

Welcome to the Poet's House on a 100-acre farm! This luxury one-floor house is the perfect romantic retreat for a couple, convenient stay with all the essentials for a family getaway, and a great option for business travelers who want both privacy and convenient access to Winston-Salem. This property has 100 5-star guest reviews through another site.

This luxury one-level home was designed with simplicity, solitude, and peacefulness in mind. The Poet's House features stone floors, mahogany doors, modern appliances, a combination of antiques and mid-century modern decor, as well as original art pieces.

The primary bedroom has a king bed, sitting area and sun porch overlooking the woods. The en suite master bathroom has a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, as well as a walk-in closet.

The second bedroom at the front of the house has a queen bed and two large windows overlooking the front courtyard. The third bedroom has a double bed and windows that overlook the fruit orchard. The second full bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The open living room has comfortable seating and a modern soapstone wood stove for chilly mornings or romantic evenings. The open dining room can seat six at the long dining table (which is handmade from black walnut trees on the property!), and there is also seating for four at the kitchen island. Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker is ready to set the mood and play your favorite tunes.

Each bedroom has two bathrobes to enhance your visit's spa-like feel and cut down on what you need to pack. After each guest, we strip each bed completely and replace everything - mattress cover, sheets, blankets and coverlet are all freshly cleaned.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you need - Keurig coffee maker, pots/pans, dishes and utensils, stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. Custom, modern cabinets and drawers outfit the rest of the kitchen area.

A beautiful deck off the side of the house offers an opportunity to watch birds and wildlife, sit and enjoy your morning cup of coffee, or enjoy outdoor dining overlooking the woods. At the back of the house is a second deck (aka, "the rocking porch") where you can sit with another view of the woods and a sweet little log cabin that sits behind the house. (We're still working on a plan for the log cabin.) The third small deck off the back of the house has two lounge chairs and a brick patio with gas grill. The back yard is fenced in.

Naturally, the Poet's House has an office/library that is perfect for inspiring your creative side, working on your latest novel, or just tapping away on your computer. Guests are welcome to enjoy the library's books and games during their stay.

Guests have access to one side of a two-car garage. Other cars may park outside in the driveway. Guests are free to walk the 100-acre property, which includes two ponds on the lower half of the property which are suitable for fishing (BYO poles), to use the large fire pit in the middle of the upper pasture, or to visit with our three goats, chickens and duck. When we have a surplus, we're happy to share farm fresh chicken eggs with our guests - just let us know if you'd like some.

This house is wheelchair accessible - guests can enter the house through the garage without ever having to step up or down. Showers are accessible and both toilets have grab bars. The sinks and kitchen counters, however, are not wheelchair accessible.

We do allow pets, but please message the host before booking with the type of pets and their size, as well as to review the rules for pets staying in our rentals. Please do not request to book if you cannot keep your pets off the furniture. There is a $50 per pet cleaning fee.

Please note: ALL OF OUR PROPERTIES ARE SMOKE-FREE, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE.
Guest access
Entire house is for guests. Half of the two-car garage is for guests.
Other things to note
Please note: driveway is gravel.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a fenced private yard.

The Poet’s House was spotless and had everything we could possibly need. All was provided from soaps, shampoo, and conditioner, etc. to laundry supplies. We cooked a lot, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and the linens and blankets were lovely. As was the soaking tub!The property is gorgeous and perfect for long walks. We had perfect weather and walked every day. The goats were super fun, and our dogs loved the large fenced-in area where they could safely run and play. The sun porch off the master was my husband’s favorite spot, where he sat with his coffee. I had to work, and the private office was a quiet, cozy space that made it easy to focus. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

We stayed here while in town for High Point Market and absolutely loved it! The property was beautiful and the rooms were fantastic—so comfy and nicely done. We didn’t get to take advantage of all the great extras since we were up early and back after dark every day, but it was such a nice place to come back to and crash after long days at market. The host was great with communication and gave fantastic recommendations for places to eat. Would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely one of the most comfortable and enjoyable stays we have had. Beautiful location and property. Peaceful and restful. Second stay here for us. Our daughter is dependent care and in a wheelchair. Much easier to care for her here than any other possible accommodation. Hope to be back soon.

This house is more beautiful than one could imagine! We were so comfortable here and just in awe of the decor. The goats and dogs on the property were fun to visit and a nice “extra”. When we needed information and also when we had a minor emergency, the owners responded quickly and kindly. We will definitely be back when we are return to the area. We wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else.

Excellent for young kids

This property had everything we needed for two little ones. The decor and furniture was also child friendly and we didn’t need to do much “baby proofing”. This space was beautifully decorated and we loved the secluded nature of the property.

Long weekend with family

Everything about our stay was fantastic. Having our dog with us was an added bonus, the backyard was perfect for him. We cooked an Easter brunch as well as a few dinners and the kitchen was very well equipped. We loved the space so much we pared down some of our adventuring to spend time on the property! Everything was clean and cozy, it truly felt like home. We hope to be back. Thanks for a great weekend!

Incredible, Peaceful, & Re-energizing

My family and I had an incredible stay. The area is peaceful and quiet. The house is a great get away to re-energize. Our daughter is non-ambulatory and dependent care. Never have we found a place we could get away and still accommodate her needs, until we discovered the Poet's House. The property mangers are wonderful hosts.

Peace on Earth

My family and I stayed at the Poet’s House while we were in the area for a wedding. This is one of the most peaceful and calming places I have ever been. I would love to stay here for a week or longer. It was so clean, beautifully decorated, and made for readers. There are televisions, but we never even turned them on. We had coffee on the side deck watching the bumble bees on the flowers. There is a fenced yard that our dog loved running around and playing in the leaves. We walked around the property and visited with the goats and their duck. Hanging out at the fire pit at night watching the stars was the best way to wrap up a busy day. The host were wonderful and very helpful.

Great experience & Location!

We would highly recommend this location. Location is in the country which was very quiet and relaxing. House was awesome, we loved this house. The host, Amanda, was very responsive and helpful. We would gladly stay here again. Nice fenced in yard for our fiurkids. Close to Medaloni Cellars and West Bar & Venue and Incendiary Brewery. Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant. Or, just buy a bottle of wine or your favorite drink and sit on the back porch and enjoy the tranquility. Kitchen has all the amenities needed to prepare a 5 star dinner once your dog finds the "hidden" spice drawer by chance. Thanks for working with our changing schedule. Thank you.
