Takin' it Breezy - New Private 1 Bedroom Apartment

Kick back & relax in this calm, beachy-style one-bedroom apartment. You'll fall in love with this unique space from the moment you park on-site and walk the lit stone pathway to your private entrance. Complete renovations were finished in 2022, including 2 a/c units, a full kitchen, living room, indoor & outdoor dining space, private bedroom, oversized shower w/rainfall showerhead, multiple water filtration + uv system, and more! Everyone will enjoy "Takin' it Breezy" & feel right at home.

Located an easy 8-minute drive from downtown, you and the homeowners will share a private home and U-shaped driveway with an allotment for one vehicle for you (a rental SUV/Jeep Wrangler is highly encouraged). There is a lit stone pathway around the side of the home, down a few wide stairs leading to the private lower level entrance.
Just past the door is your own private patio, with a char-broiled grill and a four-person dining table with an umbrella. Further down the large patio is a door with a washer/dryer combo for you to use during your visit, plus two sun chairs. Be sure to chill out with a beer and watch the sunset from the patio!
Walking inside, you will immediately notice all of the windows (with shades) and the open floor plan with tile throughout the apartment. The fully stocked kitchen is straight ahead, with a two-person dining table underneath a large window that overlooks the patio.

The living room is welcoming with a comfy couch (it's actually a sleeper sofa!), chest, and a chair with padded footstool underneath a wall-mounted a/c unit and ceiling fan.
A 42" HD tv with WIFI access allows you to unwind and stream your favorite shows after a long day at the beach. Cabinet allows space for your laptop and more.
Our full bathroom showcases a stunning, large open shower with a glass wall enclosure and privacy window. Two shelves in the shower plus a three-drawer vanity give you plenty of room for bathroom items. A small number of travel-size bathroom essentials are included, plus a hairdryer.
The bedroom has another large closet with hangers and a shoe divider. In the corner are two shelves with extra space underneath for you to store your suitcases during your visit. A tall 5-drawer white dresser and a 3-drawer nightstand provide more storage space. Underneath another wall-mounted a/c unit is a queen bed on a large rug with lots of pillows. A chair with a footstool sits underneath more large windows with shades and a ceiling fan. A 42" HD tv with WIFI access rounds out this private bedroom with a locking door.

Guest access
You will be able to access the area/walkway to the lower level and the lower level unit as described above in "The space". The lower-level patio is also accessible, as well as the washer/dryer.
Anything on the upper level is not accessible to renters, including the locked barn doors & rock pathway past the washer/dryer, and the upstairs patio.

Other things to note
NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER FIVE (5) as we are unfenced, close to a road, and the backyard is steep in certain areas. Take caution alongside the edges of the patio & backyard.

Native animals may be present outdoors at any time, like cows, chickens, roosters, iguanas, geckos, goats, donkeys, birds, feral dogs, feral cats, mongoose, etc. Take caution, we are known to have iguanas falling out of the trees.

The unit is all on one floor, but there are several outdoor stairs to get to the unit from the driveway, one stair to get inside, and one stair for the deck.

Debbie is a fantastic host—she made sure we had everything we could possibly need, including beach towels and chairs, snorkeling gear, kitchen supplies, drinks, and snacks. The apartment is immaculate and in excellent condition, including the furnishings and appliances. There are spectacular sunset views from the deck, and the location is very convenient—not far from town at all and close to several beaches, hiking trails, and good local restaurants. This is a great place as it is a short drive from Cruz Bay and close to the hiking trails and beaches if you rent a car. It is very clean and comfortable and cute with tasteful beach decor. The owners live above the apartment and are thoughtful and kind. Their pride of ownership is evident as they brought the house back after the hurricane’s aftermath. We would rent here again if we return to St. John

Immaculate Accommodation, Beautiful Views

The first thing that struck us was the cleanliness of the apartment. It was immaculate. The hosts also provided incredibly generous starter items, ranging from toilet paper (not the cheap kind!) to Prosecco (which paired very nicely with the stunning views off the back deck). The hosts were very accommodating, providing great information on local beaches and even access to snorkeling gear. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfect stay

We very much enjoyed our four night stay at Takin it Breezy! Very clean, everything we could possibly need, and beautiful deck to enjoy. It was a quick drive to Cruz Bay and very close to the Windmill Bar. Snorkel gear and chairs and beach towels were included and very much appreciated. Charlie was a great host and called us to help us find the property when it was rainy and dark. We would definitely stay here again!!!

Takin' It Breezy is a conveniently located, beautiful and immaculately clean property with a very kind, generous, and helpful host. They provided beach chairs, snorkel gear and everything we needed for the beach, as well as some beverages and snacks. We were also able to check in early. Beautiful property with exceptional host!

We had an amazing stay. I would recommend renting a jeep for traveling to and from the property. This property was immaculate with full amenities. The owners live upstairs and were SOOOO friendly and accommodating. They provided us snorkel gear, beach chairs, towels etc. AND when we had to return our jeep early, they came and picked us up from town and dropped us at the ferry AND when my husband left his passport in the unit, Charlie drove it down to us in town! Charlie was always very helpful and responsive. I couldn’t have stayed at a better property. The service really made this place special.

Absolutely Fabulous! Perfect for the 2 of Us!

Having rented multiple vacation homes/rooms around the United States and in Europe, Tak-n-It Breezy is the best overall experience we have had. Cleanliness is impeccable, and decor lovely, practical & comfortable. Excellent attention to detail, with anything you might possibly want as far as kitchen utensils & paper products for bath and kitchen are there without having to ask. Beach gear, island maps, activities and locations are at your fingertips when you arrive. The outdoor amenities are at the very least equal to those inside, with a large deck area, table & chairs, as well as lounge chairs overlooking the bay. Sunsets are beyond description. The landscaping surrounding the house & apartment is stunning, unlike most private residences on the island. Finally, Charlie & Debbie are delightful hosts, there with help and suggestions when you need, yet giving you complete privacy. We can’t wait to return!

Exceeded Expectations

This was a great experience from pre-booking (and having all my questions answered promptly) to getting great tips on driving, groceries, beaches, outings, etc. from the host when we arrived. This was especially helpful as it was our first time to the island. The property was fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed, and was the perfect location for us. The porperty is very well designed and so comfortable. Hosts were wonderful and we were sad to say goodbye to them and the island. Will definitely stay here again.

Forget St. John, welcome to St. Charlie's!

Takin' it Breezy is spotless, relaxing, lovely and easy to get to--all pluses--but the best thing about it is the generosity and good spirits of its proprietor, Charlie, who absolutely makes sure you have the best time. He went out of his way to let us stay a bit later for one more swim, brought us IPAs when he heard we like it, offered wonderful advice about trails, beaches, and everything else, and was an available, avuncular presence when we needed things without being overbearing or intrusive. The kitchen is well appointed to cook; we were pleased there is recycling nearby; the road to get there is easy and close to town (easy is relative, for the VI it's very easy); and the little touches, from beach chairs and coolers to sweet candles for romatic dinners, are thoughtful and a sign of a great host. Thanks for everything! We hope to be back, and send our friends.

Centrally located and great views.

There is a good view from the deck and I enjoyed watching the sun set every night. The apartment is newly remodeled and very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked for easy meal preparation and the grill worked great. The owners are friendly and helpful.
