The Space:

Mikkira Koala Cabin by Tiny Away in Sleaford is a peaceful tiny house escape just 20 minutes from Port Lincoln. Set on red earth surrounded by vast native bushland, it offers total seclusion, rich wildlife, and unforgettable star-filled skies free from light pollution. Set within a privately owned 260-hectare wildlife sanctuary, this unique stay offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in a protected natural environment and observe wild koalas in their native habitat.



Guided koala tours are led by the landowner and their family, who have cared for the property for generations and share extensive knowledge of the area's wildlife, history, and conservation efforts. Explore early settlers’ stone ruins, and learn about indigenous history. Afterward, wander freely or visit nearby highlights like Coffin Bay, Port Lincoln Marina, and Whaler’s Way for stunning coastal views.



This 139-square-foot tiny home includes water access, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking gear, and a private bathroom with a gas-heated shower, hand basin, and eco-friendly cassette toilet.



IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we have two tiny homes, "Mikkira Koala Cabin 1 and 2 by Tiny Away," available with 24 hours' notice, ensuring you have even more cozy holiday homes to enjoy.



Guest Access:

Guests are welcome to enjoy the tiny house and explore the entire 600-acre fenced property, but an orientation tour is required. Please respect boundaries—do not enter the owner’s fenced home area or open gates leading to neighboring private land.



Guest Advisory:



- The campground is located away from the tiny house

- A campground is available on-site from mid-April to mid-October

- Guided tour visitors may arrive at any time of the year for short visits

- There may be other guests staying in caravans and walking around during this period

- Please note that the tiny house is 1 km away from the land host's main house and the nearest town Port Lincoln is a 30 minute drive away.

- Tours may be conducted in small groups and typically commence between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM, depending on seasonal and daylight conditions.

- To access the property, an $80.00 fee applies per vehicle and is payable directly to the land host, comprising a $30.00 main gate entry fee and a $50.00 guided wild koala tour fee. The entry fee is non-refundable, while the tour fee is refundable only if weather conditions prevent the tour from taking place. These fees support property management, conservation efforts, and the guided wildlife experience within this protected ecosystem.



The Neighborhood:

Mikkira Koala Cabin by Tiny Away sits in Sleaford on the southern tip of the Eyre Peninsula, 20 minutes from the coastal city of Port Lincoln. It's a working fishing town that takes its seafood seriously, with charters, festivals, and a coastline to back it up.



On the water, Calypso Star Charters runs sea lion and shark tours out of Port Lincoln Marina. Sunset Charters Dolphin Tour operates out of Coffin Bay, which is also known for its oysters.



The region has a genuine cultural calendar. Tunarama in January draws locals for the annual Tuna Toss and Blessing of the Fleet. The Salt Festival in April covers art and live entertainment. NAIDOC Week, multicultural festivals, horse races, and yacht races fill out the rest of the year.

By Flight:



- Port Lincoln Airport services regular flights from Adelaide

- The property is approximately 30 minutes from the airport by car

- A hire car is strongly recommended upon arrival

- No transport options are available at the property itself



By Public Transport:



- No taxi or public transport services in Sleaford or the surrounding area

- A personal vehicle is the only reliable way to reach and move around the property during your stay

- Wifi is available

- No pets are allowed

- Gas BBQ grill is available

- This property is suitable for kids

- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed

- Please note that more extended stays or late check-outs will incur an extra charge

- Mobile reception has no coverage for all lines, except Telstra, with limited coverage

- Smoking is permitted outside the tiny house. Please dispose of cigarette butts properly in a bin.
