My family of 5 was very excited about this trip. I realize that the house is older and lived in & that is what I was expecting. However, it was a complete disaster. Upon arrival, we were met with a gate that was stuck and the entire fence almost collapsed trying to open it. We finally got it opened and as we headed upstairs, we noticed every railing was loose. We got inside and got all the kids settled in their rooms & headed downstairs to the master. The master had no electricity working except one outlet, which was at the bar area and provided little to no light. It was freezing down there & the water heater was also leaking water into the laundry room. I immediately let the host know about the power. She said she’d contact maintenance. I let her know if we had no power down there, we’d have to leave and stay elsewhere. It’s not as simple as sleeping upstairs because one bedroom had 2 kids in it and the other had a teen in it as well. The couch was too small to allow to adults to sleep in the living room. The host offered no resolution and wasn’t the least bit concerned about our troubles. The place is more than lived in. It needs a lot of work. We could hear rats in the ceiling (maybe that’s why the electricity doesn’t work), there’s junk in the backyard, which I consider to be a hazard to guests and pets, bare nails and screws sticking out, loose railings, patchwork drywall, leaking water, no electricity in part of the house. We ended up having to leave the next day.
