Authentic stay outside San Ignacio

Nabitunich is a mixture of a hotel with cabins and a Homestay. Dominik the owner of the hotel and working farm was there to greet us and show us around. The cabins are simple and rustic but with all amenities incl. a water cooker. Some cabins have AC and others don’t (yet). Bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast and dinner (if ordered) is served in the homestyle dinning room. Good place to exchange experiences and suggestions with other guests. The food was simple but good. Dominik was very helpful in suggestion day tours and finding guides if needed. We rented a 4x4 SUV at the airport in Belize and drove. We also used our car to visit the sights. In the dry season that works well. Others came by shuttle or taxi and were picked up for their guided tours. A car (either your own or a taxi) is needed to go into town. It about a 15 min drive to San Ignacio. We had a great authentic stay and would definitely stay there again.

Outstanding service. Quiet. Comfortable. This property was so peaceful and beautiful and restful. It was just what we needed after a long day of traveling. Dominic was so helpful and social. He’s a really nice man. They have drinking water in the common room and they have dinner family style. The room was clean and even had tea and snacks and a hair dryer! I’ll be back someday! Highly recommended.

Nabitunich is a destination on its own right, worth making the trip to Belize. It is a place with a heart and character. It felt like a rural heaven on Earth. Location: don't let the fact that it is outside of town dissuade you- getting here is very easy because the property is on the main highway to the border with Guatemala. From Belize city you can take any bus going to Flores, Benque or San Ignacio and stop at San Ignacio/Benque and take a cheap taxi from there or ask to be stopped at the road leading to Nabitunich, like we did. We also asked the bus to take us from the nearby Mopan Gas Station for our onward journey to Flores in Guatemala. The fact that it's outside towns means you have piece and quiet and lots of space to go for walks and lots of wildlife. San Ignacio town didn't look great, so we had no desire to even go there. There is a lot to do around Nabitunich- we rented horses with a guide to go to the nearby Mayan historic site along the river, which was a great experience and we highly recommend it. There are also different walking paths in the forrest and along the river to go for safe walks. Finally- the person running the place Dominic made our stay extra special- he is super friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, with a great sense of humour and it was a pleasure spending time with him. Thank you for our stay, Dominic! Also thank you to all the warm and hardworking staff of Nabitunich who made sure the who place is clean, beautiful and who cooked the food.

I have travelled to over 80 countries. Stayed in thousands of low to mid range accomodations. I am not exaggerating when I say Nabitunich was the best. Dominic and his family were incredible hosts along with his amazing staff. Ive never felt so sad to leave an accomodation. A 10 minute walk to the river for great swimming and a little fishing. Walking amongst the cows, sheep, horses, was awesome. We even made great friends with the family pets. If you walk to the left at the river about 20 minutes you arrive in a protected area with howler monkeys. We saw 8 and even a mama & baby. On the property we saw fireflies, hummingbirds, and Toucans. The mayan ruins of Xunatunich is mere minutes away. We stayed 3 nights. We bought the package that included dinner for only another $9USD for 3. Food was excellent and aithentic. The common areas were amazing and Dominic was always engaging guests in conversation which led to everyone making quick friends. Rooms were clean. The farm has been in the family since before WW1. Thank you Dominic & family. You truly live in a magical destination. From the bottom of our heart our family thanks you & wishes you all the best.

Beautiful place and we loved our stay here. The owner, Dom, was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgable. You will love staying at Nabitunich if you are looking for something a little off the beaten path. This is bed and breakfast on a generationally owned family farm - dinner is also served in the evenings. We rented a car when we stayed here but other people staying at the same time did not and were able to get cabs (or hike!) into San Jose Succotz and the surrounding area.

The proprietor Dennis was awesome. The area has a wealth of sites, sights, swimming, culture and a natural beauty. He’s an interesting and worldly man. Knows of all to see in the area amd there are horses to ride right down the road. He undersells this booking as to not disappoint. I’d say you would be hard pressed to find a flaw in this property.

Great for a farm & sunset. Not all buildings had AC (a must). No TV & split building was easy to hear neighbor talking at normal volume. Dominic & staff were great. Common area was great. Food was good. Atmosphere was good, but descriptions like "farm tour available" were a stretch. Asked about it & seemed like it they weren't sure what we were talking about. If you want great sunset, "eco-friendly" & really interactive/knowledgeable host in a unique rural setting, probably the best place to stay in the country

Dominic is a very conscientious host. He was very helpful with giving us local insight of where to visit. It is located in a beautiful, peaceful setting. We liked that breakfast and dinner were provided on-sight. This saved us a lot of time. The only dislike is that there was no A/C in our unit, but overall we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Dominic!

Dominic and his wife (we never met her) have a lovely set up of cottages and places to stay on their working farm. We loved hearing the roosters in the morning and having the presence of their dogs. Breakfast was traditional and delicious. Although we had prior plans, if you needed dinner, they would prepare it for an extra cost - just let them know. Drinks of various kind were also available for purchase, or you could store your own in a common fridge. They have connections with other tour guides if you desire. I wish we could have taken more advantage of the trails on the property and other amenities, but we were only there for 2 nights. Better planning next time! One small caution for tall people, the queen bed cottage has short doors. My 6'2" husband banged his head twice when he forgot to duck. Otherwise the accommodations were lovely and comfortable.
