Cockroaches in the room, mold growing in the bathroom and on the wood on the exterior of the building, no control of the ceiling fan speed, stray cats and dogs, rats, and no access to the restaurants - they need reservations, which was not conveyed when I booked the resort. Harassment by beach vendors every 5-10 minutes makes for an unpleasant and unrelaxing environment. Birds picking at/eating and walking on the food on the buffet, and the workers couldn’t care less - birds pooping on the dining chairs…makes for a pretty gross dining experience. Overall an awful experience.

The staff was friendly. We had a pretty decent stay the window in the bathroom. The latch was broken and there was no reception on the TV. They told us five times. They were come fix it when we checked out they said nobody had TV. There was a lizard in the Shower when we got there no big deal.

Be aware of using any of the appliances in the rooms. Check them first, I was electrocuted by the iron and they literally did nothing but offer a new iron. I insisted to have a report written and wanted my arm checked out where it was burned from the shock, they then said the medical visit was on them, as it shouud be!!! And the hairdryer in our room didnt work and was melted inside, I told them, when we werent in the room they ripped the other dryer off the wall and a different was on the counter When I tried using that dryer it had some loose metal in it, when I turned it on it make a terrible clanking noise then just stopped working and got super hot so I unplugged it and didn't even bother to ask for another.

Upgrading to privileged is worth it! Beautiful beach, good drinks and good food. It would be nice if they didn’t allow sales people on the beach though, it gets annoying being harassed to buy stuff. We did end up booking our party snorkeling cruise through them and I think it would have been worth the extra cost to book through the hotel. Otherwise, the staff was nice and friendly. Grounds are nice. I would definitely go back!

I stayed at the Catalonia in 2019 and I had an amazing time and experience. I enjoyed the resort so much that I came back this year for my birthday. When I arrived, there was a warm welcome by the staff. I booked the premium junior suite. I booked this suite because the pictures on the site were nice and for my birthday, I figured I would spend more for a premium room. There were several issues with my room. The toilet had low water pressure, and wouldn’t fill when flushed. Also the handle didn’t retract to the normal position. I called maintenance to fix it, they came but the issue remained the same. In addition to that, there were ants around the sink. Furthermore, the covers were so thin. I understand the climate is warm but at least give another blanket for comfort. The overall appearance of the room was dated and I don’t feel like it looked like the pictures. The high point of my stay was the friendliness of the staff and the buffet/restaurants. Maybe my standards are higher now but I don’t feel like this visit compared to my last visit. I don’t think I will be back but I think the staff should be commended for how hard they work.

Rooms were fine no leaks in privileged, but fridge didnt work, offered to fix last day we were there. Basically have to ask for bottles of water which is no good when fridge doesnt work. Didnt really clean the room besides make the bed. Other than that resort was great beach was clean food was good.
