we had 3 different families staying at las palomas and they all booked their stay through vrbo. ours was the only one with a different check in process. We had to check in down the street at casago. We were told we wouldn't be guaranteed an early check in but that they would text us our door code when the room was available. I understand that but they literally texted us the code right at 4pm. It would have been better if they just told us the room would be ready at 4. We arrived in our unit to find there was a huge leak in the kitchen ceiling. we called into casago and they said "it's probably condensation because of the humidity, make sure to keep the doors and windows shut". we told them it was more than just "condensation" and they sent multiple people from maintenance all saying "it wasn't that way 30 minutes ago". I don't believe the maintenance crew is thorough in their cleaning and review of the rooms before check in. i also don't believe this was a new issue because there was mold on the kitchen floor around where the water was piling. they did eventually repair the leak and wasn't an issue the rest of the stay. There was also a weird whistling sound coming from the sliding glass door as if the door wasn't fully sealed. the sound went on our entire stay. the listing did say to bring our own beach towels but we assumed we could get pool towels at least. at the pool we were told that based on our wristbands we did not qualify to get pool towels
