Relax on the quiet end of the Bolivar Peninsula at A Cool Change, a 1300 square foot beach house located in the Gilchrist area. Enjoy a completely unobstructed view from the porch or mezzanine level or take a 2-minute walk to the beach. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is perfect for a small gathering or two families.

In the open-concept living/kitchen/dining area, you will find lovely coastal decor and comfortable seating. Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, including a coffee pot suitable for K-cups or regular drip. There is seating at the kitchen island and separate dining table - great for meals and game nights!

Each bedroom features a king bed, and there is an air mattress available to provide sleeping room for 8. The primary bedroom is equipped with an ensuite bath, as well. For your convenience, high speed internet is provided, and all bedrooms have USB outlets.

A Cool Change features two different levels of deck with beautiful beach views. On the mezzanine level you will find porch swings, games and a picnic table that seats 10. There are deck chairs on the mezzanine as well as the top floor and there are gates that enclose the mezzanine and porch. Downstairs you'll find ample parking, a hot and cold water outdoor shower, foot washing station and a fish cleaning sink. You will also find a gas grill (propane may need to be filled).

We sometimes experience power outages at the beach, but at A Cool Change you will not have to worry. This home is set up with a generator that can supply the whole home with power.

Cargo lift is available with additional charge. No pets are allowed. All Swedes Real Estate vacation rentals are non-smoking properties. (Smoking allowed on ground level only) Swedes does not rent to guests under 25 years of age.
The homeowner does not provide linens and towels, but, if you choose, they are available upon request from our linen service (additional fee applies).
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 3 bedrooms. Other standard amenities include a washing machine and a coffee maker.

It was a little ways out of town, but we liked that because it was not a busy area. The only difficulty we had was locking the door. Even when lifting the door handle, it was very hard to turn the lock.

We didn't have good beach weather while we were here, but this beach had the most shells I have ever seen. There was streaming TV, as well as games and puzzles so we kept ourselves entertained. What I really enjoyed was the laidback, not busy atmosphere on the Peninsula. Quite a contrast from the Galveston island atmosphere. We ate one night at the Fins restaurant at the Margaritaville RV resort - highly recommend! Overall, we enjoyed our relaxing stay, and are already planning next year's trip.

Coastal Delight

Our family enjoyed all aspects of this house, especially the well-appointed kitchen and an open seating floor plan. The mid level deck allowed for comfortable swinging and picnicking with views of BOTH the inter-coastal waterways to the rear of the property and stunning views of the crashing waves in front. Extra high chairs on the top deck increased visibility of the beach activities and created wonderful ambiance for nighttime beverages, a cool breeze, and the moon reflecting off the water. While the property is technically across the street from the beach, we still opted for a beach pass so that we could easily load up the kids and the surf fishing gear in the SUV. The house is only about ten minutes away from notable seafood and Mexican restaurants, a number of which include great Cajun fusion meals. Overall, a must stay!

We went on a bay fishing trip and caught speckled trout and one red fish. Stingaree restaurant did not disappoint, the seafood was fresh and plentiful. We brought side by sides and were able to ride up and down the beach. I would recommend this property to all my friends and family.

Problems with our stay

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful location across the street from a beach entrance, but our stay had some problems.Gross discovery: Upon check-in, my daughter found dirty men's underwear between the sofa cushions (you have to reach between the cushions to locate the sofa recliner). I contacted management but heard nothing. Sleepless night: The second night, faulty fire alarms blared repeatedly, waking us up. We contacted the after hours number and had to wait for a maintenance person to come. He was kind and helpful but had to disable all the fire alarms in the house to prevent them from going off anymore. Again I heard nothing from property management about either issue we experienced during our stay. Poor customer service not checking in with a customer knowing there were issues with a property in the night. The only communication I've received now are multiple requests to review the property.. so, here it is. We won't be back.

The kitchen has everything plus so many extras! The furniture is beautiful and comfortable. The mattresses and sheets were so comfortable. The shower is the best! It has an optional cargo elevator lift you can rent for $100. That was a life saver since the beachhouse is on the 3rd floor. The ocean is across the street but the entrance is directly in front of the house. We brought a side by side so if you have that or a golf cart that is helpful. We will definitely be renting this house again.
