Wonderful!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the very charming and professional Jad. The property was stunning, the rooms grand, extremely clean and comfortable. Excellent facilities and a short drive or 20/30 minute walk into Pont-Audemer. We will certainly be visiting again in the future!

Full of genuine character and charm, so relaxing

I adored Belle Isle sur Risle. It is such a relaxing place, The staff were so welcoming and accommodating (with the exception of one or two members who were less than friendly, but they were easily outshone by the others who were exceptionally kind.) When we discovered that they were fully booked for massages, they went out of their way to hire a second masseur so we would not be disappointed. I have read some reviews which said the hotel was tired and in need of refurbishment, but this is an authentic French country house and so, whilst not pristine throughout, has all the charms which come with that and for me make it preferable to somewhere more corporate and less personal. We didn't get chance to eat in the restaurant but did have breakfast. As we only wanted coffee and a croissant, it worked out very expensive so we only went once, but there was a full array of cooked dishes, including dauphinoise potatoes and champagne on offer so that would justify the price. We stayed a week and found it was perfect to spend some days relaxing by the 2 pools, having our massages, canoeing on the river or using the bikes to go into Pont-Audemer (which is a really charming place with plenty of shops and places to eat). The location is wonderful for exploring Normandy and beyond so on other days we took off and saw the delights of Honfleur, Bayeux and Giverny, all with in really easy reach.

Disappointing accommodation

We had seen the pictures and description of the bedrooms on the website and it all looked good. Unfortunately we found the reality to be different. We had chosen a room with air-conditioning but our allocated room (albeit with a balcony and a great view of the garden) was hot and had no air-conditioning. After some discussion we chose to move to an alternative room on the top floor, which did have ac. Although this was working when we checked into the room it stopped cooling during the night - we were told that it had recently been repaired but obviously, the repair couldn't have been done properly. Bedroom decor was very basic and could have been far better, especially as this was not a cheap stay. The bathroom was interesting. There was a bath with a shower attachment although it would have been impossible to stand and shower in the bath due to the sloping roof. I reckon that you would have to have been a contortionist to have been able to use the bidet conventionally. due to its positioning in a corner of the room. We did have dinner, and this was the bright spot of the stay, along with a particularly good bottle of burgundy. The decor of the dining room was generally good although it was spoilt but what looked like a shower curtain fixed to one of the walls (see photo below). Once seen it couldnt be unseen. Location was very good but we won't be visiting again in a hurry - the hotel needs to upgrade its rooms and for the description on the website to be more accurate.

Ah, Pont-Audemer… son charme, ses canaux, et cet hôtel resté coincé dans une faille temporelle quelque part entre 1987 et la série “Dynastie”. On sent que la rénovation a coûté cher à l’époque — probablement en pots de peinture “rose bonbon sucé” et “saumon indigeste n°42”. Depuis, rien n’a bougé, sauf peut-être la poussière et les illusions. La déco, c’est un peu comme si on avait voulu faire du Ravel mais qu’on avait fini en Richard Clayderman. Et justement, un pianiste s’y acharne sur du Johnny Hallyday revisité façon Debussy sous tranxène. Les oreilles pleurent, les âmes fuient. Côté confort, les sommiers sont de vieux soldats des années Mitterrand : ils grincent, ils ploient, mais ils tiennent encore debout, presque par fierté. Les fauteuils du salon, quant à eux, semblent conçus pour tester la gravité : impossible de s’asseoir sans finir par terre, un genou en moins. En résumé : une expérience immersive dans ce qu’était la notion du “bon goût” en 1987. Pour le reste, libre à vous de dépenser une fortune pour un séjour au musée de la moquette d’époque et du kitsch certifié.

hôtel dans un domaine agréable et apaisant mais la propreté c'est à revoir nous avions des toiles d'araignées aux fenêtres et plafonds la poubelle à notre arrivée était pleine les rideaux et la moquette sont poussiéreuses les rideaux sont pas occultants le spa et les piscines sont bien on vous fournis un peignoir il n'y a pas d'ascenseur il faut le savoir sinon le personnel d'accueil est parfait à notre arrivée mais à notre départ une dame nous a facturé des suppléments que nous n'avions pas pris elle l'ai a annulée immédiatement mais un meilleur contrôle de gestion du service extra serait à mettre en place

Bonjour, Je suis frustré de ce sejour. On parle d'un hotel 4 étoiles et j'arrive le soir.... quelle vétusté !! On se croirait 30 ou 40 ans en arrière. Des toiles d'araignées, des araignées. Attention, les prix du mini bar sont bel et bien affichés mais alors un mini bar vide, qul honte. Les chaises, je vous ai dit 30 ou 40 ans, désolé je me suis trompé de 20 ou 30 de plus encore. Rien qui ne soit à l'aise. Et je vous passe l'odeur du moisi, du renfermé. Bref, que dire encore. Je ne vous cache pas que j'avais ensuite peur de rentrer dans la/les piscine/s. Et surtout, en partant on vous reclame encore la taxe de sejour.... mais quel sejour !!!! J'en ai glissé qq mots à l'accueil mais .... même pas un ... oups, c'est un loupé, ou on s'excuse! Rien de tout ça. La folie à eviter absolument..

Excellent Hotel

This place is absolutely stunning. Excellent staff, professional and very friendly. The swimming pools are heaven, so refreshing. Dinner on the patio was excellent. Rooms are small but all you need. Breakfast is also excellent. Highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the Normandie region. Tres Magnifique.

Pas d'ascenseur, la ville est un peu loin pour y aller à pieds, les repas de l'hôtel sont trop chers, on ne comprend pas bien ce qui est compris dans le spa
