About this property
Your Own Private Storybrook Retreat
Everyone can gather!
THIS LISTING IS A COMBINATION OF ALL OUR LISTINGS
Welcome to Storybrook Forest Adventure Center, where the ridge is sunset is breathtaking, the stars get brighter, and the story is only beginning.
Tucked beside the 2,106-acre Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area and just 3 miles from where Little Sugar Creek and Big Sugar Creek come together to form the Elk River, Storybrook Forest is a private 10-acre retreat made for families, friends, float groups, reunions, celebrations, fishing trips, and anyone who wants a little more room to breathe.
When you reserve the entire property, you get Storybrook Lodge, our cabins - Pinehaven and Sunset Hollow, 4 RV sites, tent space, grill, wooded areas, outdoor gathering spaces, and plenty of privacy, all in one reservation.
With 11 beds and 4 bathrooms, there is room for everyone to spread out. Outside, you’ll find a 6-person luxury spa, outdoor shower, stage, patio area, huge fire pit with firewood provided, grill with charcoal, fluid and lighter, 4 RV sites, and room for tents beneath the trees.
Spend the day floating Elk River, kayaking Little Sugar or Big Sugar Creek, fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass, hiking the nearby conservation area, hunting, mushroom foraging, biking, or simply wandering until supper sounds like a good idea.
Then come home to Storybrook Forest.
Watch the sun disappear behind the ridge. Soak under the stars. Gather around the fire. Let the kids run. Let the grown-ups sit awhile. Out here, the evenings have a way of stretching just a little longer.
But why is it called Storybrook Forest?
Well… that part is still being written.
We recently purchased this property because we saw something here that wasn’t quite here yet.
Over time, Storybrook Forest will grow into a whimsical woodland village filled with Storykeeper Cottages, small hobbit-home-inspired stays tucked among the trees. Each cottage will have its own name, its own personality, and its own piece of the Storybrook legend.
And there is already a mystery waiting in these woods.
Long ago, huckleberries grew along the ridge.
Then, somehow, they disappeared.
As Storybrook grows, guests will be able to follow clues, discover hidden objects, solve little quests, uncover pieces of the story, and perhaps figure out what happened to the missing huckleberries.
Those who eventually make their way through all of the Storykeeper Cottages will discover something very few guests ever will…
The Hidden Huckleberry.
Our secret final cottage and the last chapter of the adventure.
But that is a story for another day.
Right now, Storybrook Forest is at the very beginning.
So if you stay with us today, someday you may be able to say:
“We were there before the village was built.”
And we think that’s pretty special.
Storybrook Forest is close to Elk River, Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area, Big Sugar Creek State Park, Indian Creek, Rush Springs Ranch, Bella Vista, Bentonville, Rogers, Neosho, Joplin, Grove, and miles of trails, rivers, and Ozark country waiting to be explored.
Bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring your fishing poles, kayaks, hiking shoes, dogs, campfire stories, and whatever adventure usually ends up becoming the story everyone tells for years afterward.
Come stay awhile. The forest has plenty of stories left to tell.
