Cheap central hotel

Good central location but was at the rundown end of a high end shopping street. Hotel and room were tired. Room was very small and noisy from other guests at night, and staff early in the morning. The small high window couldn’t be left open to air the room due to smell so ac on most of the time. Door felt insecure. Wouldn’t stay again as a lone female as I didn’t feel that safe in room or at that end of street at night. If bigger room and 2 of you, probably fine.

Good points Beautiful old fashioned (in a good way) hotel. Shiny brass and polished wood. Staff very friendly and tried to help fix the problems. Room clean, quiet, well-appointed (a microwave would have been nice), bed comfortable. Good central location Inexpensive Problems We were given two sets of keys. One key didn’t fit the lock on the front door (it was replaced by staff) The bathroom door couldn’t be closed. That was fixed on our first morning.

Did not state this was in the middle of a construction area zone on their website!! Jack hammering began at 6 am!!! Other than no sleep it’s a very cute and well maintained little place. Easy to walk about location. I would go back once their major city is finished squeezing builds in here and there. Suggest they house the homeless sleeping on their streets first!!

The European Hotel, was formerly known as Miss Maud's and with its buffet and cake shop was something of an icon in central Perth. The location is excellent, and for us being within walking distance of the central railway station was important. It is an old hotel, which has a certain charm, and the furnishings in our room had some very special touches. My concern about the property is to do with its age, being (I believe) of timber framed construction, and somewhat of a rabbit warren: My guess is that it is a conglomerate of multiple old buildings. Passage ways are narrow for a hotel. Although only three stories high (we were on the first floor) I felt uncomfortable that it is more vulnerable to fire than a newer building of concrete and steel construction. The rabbit warren nature of the hotel would make it quite confusing to exit in a hurry. I went so far as to explore the fire exit route posted clearly in our room, and was not overly comforted that we could safely exit the building in the event of a fire.

Spotless and good value

This is the 3rd time I've stayed 4-7 nights in the European Hotel and I'm hoping to find a price that suits me for my January 05 visit. The hotel is very clean which is my number one thing - I don't mind a dated hotel as long as everything is spotless. I've been in 4 rooms now and each were equally as good. The reception staff have all been very professional, always helpful and cheerful. There is a nice outdoor verandah on the 2nd floor that is pleasant in the morning and evening. The hotel is central and very conveniently located to shops. David Jones, Myers, Woolworths and BWS liqour store is 3/4 minute walk away. The free Black CAT bus is at the front door. It's a very short walk from Perth train station after an easy trip from Perth airport (ticket $2.40 with a concession). The eating places around are good, l took advantage of the 10% discount at Deli Gabe a couple of times. This hotel is cleaner, more convenient, and more comfortable than other more expensive hotels I've stayed in in Australia and overseas.

Repeat customer. Have a joyed each stay. However they used to include a buffet breakfast which was spectacular. Room was clean and spacious with a balcony. Close to restaurants, shopping and transit. Would stay again.
