Staff was friendly and kind. Area outside hotel was nice and clean. Room and specially bathroom need general renovation. Disgusting mold and limescale on shower and sink. Room was very dark and we had the worst bed in our life, so squeaky. Overpriced for what you get.

They are using a different hotel's photos!!

There are 62 photos of a completely different Hotel here. The hotel you see on the photos(swimming pool, modern bathroom, sun terrace, restaurant) belong to Hotel Villa Esperia in Taormina, not in Hotel Villa Esperia in Palermo(Mondello). This hotel is completely different. And not in a good way I'm afraid. It is an old converted villa where everything echoes, dated rooms, uncomfortable mattress, old bathrooms. There is no restaurant on site, and the nearest one is quite a walk away. Danile at reception was fantastic. But I spent a long time trying to explain to an elderly gentleman at reception who only spoke Italian, that the photos don't belong to them and surely they should be aware and change these immediately. This review is written 1 week after my stay, and they still have the incorrect photos up, so I am convinced they are fully aware of scamming people. I stayed one night only and got my money back for the rest, from hotels.com. This hotel was pointing fingers at the agent and took no responsibility for their actions. I am disappointed and hopefully hotels.com will take actions to ensure the hotel corrects this mistake.

This Hotel is very clean, no parking available so we had to double park and keep checking to see if a space became available.... staff were friendly on arrival but not very helpful on checkout... room was very small for 4 people...

Hotel and locality review

The Hotel was looking a little tired, the parking facilities were non existent.The shuttters kept us awake at night when windy, there was no way of locking them to the wall.They had no Brandy in the bar. We experienced difficulty with the Sky TV system. Overall We were not pleased at all with the 4 star rating of this Hotel.

Difficult to find on our own.

Our room phone didn't work. we were put in an annex off the main hotel, lots of steps and difficulty with door lock. We had a 5am wake up due to our early departure but the restaurant didn't open until 8pm and there were no restaurants in the vicinity.

Nice rooms and breakfast, uncomfortable atmosphere

The hotel is a nice villa-style building, with a charming entrance and elegant interiors (if not slightly in need of an update). Mondello beach is beautiful and just down the road. The area, however, is mainly residential, surrounded by unlit streets in the evening, and quite a lengthy walk away from any restaurants. Rooms are basic, there was not a mini-fridge and it was small, the lift was extremely old and noisy, wakin us up each morning. Breakfast was very wide and varied, with excellent coffee, but on the day we didn't arrive first everything was gone and not replaced, the breakfast waiter was unwelcoming and did not greet us back. The general atmosphere in the hotel was often slightly uncomfortable and a bit too intense for us, the hotel is small and it felt deserted. This is not to say all the staff were rude, a couple were very polite and one even lent us wine glasses to take to the beach for a picnic one evening.There was nothing particularly wrong with the hotel, the staff could have just been more professional and friendlier. Definitely good for a short stay in Mondello.

Arrived at the hotel, no mention that Internet was down due to storm. No internet no Wi-Fi. Two single bed put together for a double (queen size). Blanket had smokes holes. No soap in the shower. No fridge in room but provided water bottles by going to front desk. Elevator broke down at about nine pm., but was fixed within a short time frame. Could not make telephone call to airline in Rome, we had to go down at the front desk to use their front desk phone. In the morning, the front desk had internet but still no Wi-Fi in the room. Breakfast in the morning, nothing to rave about.

Gorgeous hotel next to the beach

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were made welcome and all our needs were attended to. The staff were all polite, friendly and accommodating, despite our inability to speak Italian! We arrived before check in time, but were allowed to leave our suitcases at the hotel whilst we explored the local area. When we came back our bags had already been taken to our room for us and everything went smoothly. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. We were provided with more than enough space for hanging and putting away clothes, a lovely bathroom with a powerful shower and a delightfully comfortable bed. We slept well every night as the room was cool and the area was very quiet and peaceful. We ate in the hotel restaurant two of the nights that we stayed, and were impressed with the level of service and quality of food. The hotel overall had a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and I would recommend it highly for anyone who wants to escape reality in beautiful Sicily.

Fantastic experience

Even though hotel Villa Esperia has 2 stars, for me, it was a 5 star experience. The hotel and staff exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and spacious while staff were attentive and pleasant. The food was exceptional and dinner was the best meal I had during my 10 day stay in Sicily. I highly recommend this hotel.

L’hotel è visibilmente datato e mal tenuto, oltre che rumoroso in quanto situato su una via ad alto scorrimento. Gode di una posizione comodissima per raggiungere velocemente e a piedi la bellissima spiaggia di Mondello ma non possiede un parcheggio, neanche a pagamento. Il personale è estremamente gentile e cortese e ha molto a cuore la soddisfazione del cliente. Non è assolutamente consigliato per ospiti esigenti.
