Una estancia encantadora

Nos ha encantado nuestra estancia en la casa de María, está bien situada y es muy acogedora, dispone de todos los servicios necesarios. María es una persona atenta y está muy disponible para resolver cualquier necesidad que surja así como hacerte la estancia más agradable.

Family home located within the walls. If you have a car, it’s better to park near the front gate rather than along the side wall. Walk up to castle walls with luggage was strenuous. Leaving thru the front gate was much easier. Home was a perfect location. Obidos was a beautiful little town within drives to Fatima and Nazare. Host was wonderful. Furnishings are quaint which add to the charm of the home. Nice to have a washer. Home located near bakeries, restaurants and small groceries. We never cooked so didn’t investigate kitchen supplies. Great for families or couples.

A lovely Stay in a Historic City Within the Castle Walls

Maria, our host, was great and very helpful with check-in instructions and helpful tips on what to do in the region. Obidos is absolutely lovely - especially in the evenings and mornings - be sure to walk the castle walls and enjoy the nice restaurants. The region is gorgeous - we can highly recommend a boat trip from Peniche to the island of Berlengas (bird sanctuary and a 14th century fort). Thank you Maria!

Explore the Obidos area

The property is well placed to explore Lazare, Coimbra, Tomar etc. Found it generally quiet evenings and night. Maria was open and helpful. Plenty of parking at only short distances away. Highly recommend but with one warning; the range hood extends over half the sink snd is at a hight that that makes a head injury almost inevitable.

Home away from home

Its a wonderful home inside the castle walls of Obidos. Maria is the perfect Host. There if you need her, and a so nice. If you rent a car park in the free lot across from the castle. Do not let the GPS take you inside the castle walls! Repeat!!. Highly recommend!.

This adorable home is in an incredible location, but the best part of our stay was the friendly, knowledgeable host, Maria. From our initial interaction and throughout our 4 night stay, Maria provided information that enhanced our trip. She provided recommendations and tips that surpassed any guidebook. Great Location

We were very happy with the location of this unit. Right inside the castle walls of Obidos and very close to everything. The property manager was very responsive to any questions and requests we had prior to arriving however, we were given an incorrect address and spent a lot of time trying to find the unit. Maria was quick to respond to assist us, but it was disappointing to not have correct information from the beginning.

Wonderful apartment

Great location within the walls, very comfortable home. Maria was v helpful with orientation and finding a restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The complimentary wine was a nice touch. We ventured out of Obidos during the day to avoid the tourist crush. Early morning and evenings spent exploring Obidos were great including walking the walls. You pay for parking in the main lots though can search for on street parking near the walls or find a municipal lot apparently. Hope we make it back soon!

Beautiful Stay

Casa Maria is a five star property within the walls of charming Obidos. Three bedrooms, 2 baths, and a spacious living areas means you and your family will have an excellent holiday. The apartment is beautifully appointed and super comfortable, and we really appreciate that it is dog friendly. The location is right in the center of the walled city, close to good restaurants (especially right next door), good shops, and romantic strolls. Park your car in the public lot just outside the main gate and the apartment is a mere five minute walk. For authentic European charm and an upscale rental property, you can’t beat Casa Maria. And Maria is gracious, helpful, responsive, and very kind.

Lovely, quaint apartment on a very quiet cobblestone alley. The owner, Maria, was very nice and friendly. The location is perfect. The apartment is old but what else would you expect in this ancient walled city. Had a great time in Obidos and short trips to nearby towns of Nazaré and Peniche.

Amazing Obidos

Obidos is a special place and Maria's house is too. Maria and her sister Fatima were both very helpful from start to finish. The house location is perfect. Tip,.when visiting Obidos say hi to all of the locals and speaking a little Portuguese is appreciated as well. I can see why so many people want to visit Obidos and this house. Great stay.

Great Stay in Obidos

We had a wonderful time staying at Maria’s place in Obidos. It’s a cozy, updated house that we learned has been in the family for many years. It’s perfectly located inside the walls of the city providing access to this historic place. Maria communicated with us from the start and met us outside the city walls. She showed us where to park and then drove us through the narrow and steep streets to the house. She even had a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival. Would definitely stay here again.

We would recommend Maria's place and would recommend staying in Obidos.

Maria was a great host. She communicated from the beginning of the booking until the end. She arranged to meet us at a local bank and escort us to the apartment and show us where to park "outside" the wall. Maria was helpful in giving advice for places to go….clearly she loves Obidos and the surrounding area. The apartment is nice and a bit quirky. Lovely touches, flowers and a bottle of wine to greet us. I must add that we were a little disappointed when the nice outside sitting area was not as shown in the listing. Maria explained that it was under construction, but to us, it looked as if it had been under construction for a while. We would recommend Maria's place and would recommend staying in Obidos.

Positives: Very interesting environment. Lots of history and culture. Lots to see. Good, and some very good, restaurants. Some shopping. Good base for exploration of surrounding areas and communities. Property was perfectly located. Negatives: Obidos is very busy. Large crowds and lots of tourists, essentially every day. Morning until night. Property standard was OK. Communication with the host was rapid and efficient some times, but other times it was non existent. Overall rating: OK - good

Cool experience but tough for parking close by

Four adults traveled and stayed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay as it was cool to stay in a castle and walk around it. Plenty of restaurants and shops within the castle. Owner was very attentive and lives right next-door to the house. As expected, the roads were narrow and didn’t allow us to park close to the house. Rather we parked behind a bank across the street. If anyone struggles with walking especially on cobblestones, this would not be a good place to stay for you. Also, we stayed while Portugal was having a heat wave (temps over 100F). It was muggy and tough to sleep through the hot temperatures without air-conditioning. I imagine that on a day with temps in the 80s, this would not be an issue.

Fairy Tale Stay.

We were so fortunate to have found Maria and her picture perfect apartment in the medieval walled town of Obidos, Portugal. We were comfortable and taken in by the lovely home and natural setting. We were taken back in time yet had all the modern conveniences. The location on an out of the way side street was a quiet haven , yet only a few minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants. Maria was so helpful getting us settled, and our three days spent there stroll seem like a dream. Narrow, cobblestone streets, a medieval castle and a walk around the entire town from the top of the ancient wall are part of your everyday stay. Flowers grow all over the ancient walls. Do not hesitate to spend time in her beautiful home.
