Not Cleaned After Previous Tenant and No Response From Owner - Look Elsewhere

I will start off with the positive. The property is in a great location, it's very cute and quaint. It is older, but that just brings more charm in my opinion. The unit and furnishing are in good condition. Now the negative. 1) When we reserved the room for the sole purpose of attending the craft festival that was happening that weekend, it would have been helpful if the owners stayed on top of the events in the area. When there is an event in downtown Mt Dora, the streets are closed to traffic and there is no parking permitted. The closest parking we could find was three city blocks away. This makes quite a journey up/down a pretty steep hill to take things to and from your vehicle. 2) there are two units above the store that are owned by this same property mgmt company. Above each units doors are the name Dora and Alexander. Nowhere in the reservation does it tell you what unit you are in, so we just had to try the combination on both doors until it worked. 3) When we entered the apartment it had not been cleaned after the prior tenant. we attempted to contact the owners, and we contacted VRBO, and nobody was successful in reaching them. We left several voicemails and they were never returned. I also located the property management companies website and sent a message there and there was no response. It was very concerning to be in a condo that had no property management contact if there were any major issues. I also don't feel they change the combination for the lock.

Information would be nice

Location is amazing - HOWEVER I never received the access code to the door or any information for that matter. I called, texted, and contacted through the VBRO app I NEVER heard from the property manager. I spent over an hour on the phone with VBRO and never got an access code. Luckily, when we arrived the store owner downstairs was able to help us access the property. I just wonder what would happen if he wasn’t there. We asked about parking and we’re told the street was fine. Then Sunday morning when trying to leave we were blocked in due to a street festival. Mt Dora is a fun, quaint place just not without information 😡

Perfect location

We loved this apartment. It's right in the middle of everything. It was great to explore the town then stop back by the apartment to drop off our stuff before heading back out. The apartment was very spacious, extremely clean, and had everything we needed. Ronnie and the locals we met were great people. We'd also recommend the Magical Meat Boutique British Pub. It's right next door and has great food and live music. We got lucky with parking our entire visit but I feel like the walk isn't bad if you have to park in a nearby garage/parking lot and walk your luggage to the apartment. Overall we had a great visit!

Amazing location!

We enjoyed our stay here. It was in the heart of everything and very welcoming. It had all the kitchen supplies we needed and more than enough towels. The king sized bed is a little squeaky and loud, but overall was comfortable. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this little gem of a place!

Great location

Location, location, location. You can’t go wrong with the location of this rental. House was clean beside a few spots on the carpet. Towels were nice and fluffy. Shower was a little tight. Bed in main bedroom was super loud every time you moved. If you don’t move at night you would not notice it. But the slightest move made the loudest noise. Had both regular coffee pot and kcup coffee maker. Lots of pots and pans. Ice maker in freezer. AC was ice cold. Check out (10am) is earlier then most places. If you check out on Sunday you get a nice surprise of a farmers market right outside you door. Parking was difficult. There was always a space open with the additional parking behind the lakeside inn hotel down at the end of the street. Pack light as you have to take your luggage to where you park. Room had washer and dryer. Hopefully they can fix the creaking bed. You have to weigh the pros and cons.

Location is amazing

location, location, location, it can't be beat. In the middle of everything. Would stay again for sure. The unit is very large and clean. The only complaint I have is of the bed in the master bedroom. It is VERY LOUD. Like, will wake you up when you or another person in the bed moves. And it is very uncomfortable. Also, shower was REALLY small. But besides that, everything was great.

Mount Dora March 2023

The location is fantastic being in the heart of Mt Dora. The restaurants and pubs were just next door. The apartment is nice but two things need to be corrected. First off the carpet is due for a cleaning with a few stains in the living area. The master beds wooden frame needs to be corrected or replaced. You couldn't move without it making outrageous squeaking noises. We even gave thought to sleeping in the 2nd bedroom because that was ok. We have stayed in the apartment across the hall which was perfect! This apartment could get the same rating if they make the above changes.

Spacious apartment in great location!

This apartment is located right in the middle of it all - walk to everything. There is no parking associated with this unit, but we didn't have any trouble finding parking nearby. While the unit is bit dated, it is well kept and very comfortable. Shopping, dining, and sunsets over Lake Dora are at your doorstep!

Mix ups

When we arrived the unit had not been cleaned after the prior guests. It got cleaned and we were able to move at about 7pm. Even with the cleaning the unit needs a DEEP cleaning, for example, walking in bare feet resulted in black bottomed feet after aN hour or so. Kitchen has the barest minimum of utensils and cookware. Our first morning we got a call and were told that we were in the wrong unit, even though it was the one for which we were given the door code. We were told that other people were coming in that day but they didn’t come until two days later. The owner was called the first night and he said he would pay for dinner while the unit was being cleaned - still haven’t seen reimbursement for our dinner. VRBO also said it would process a $50 refund for the cleaning, haven’t seen that yet either. We love Mt Dora but we will not stay in this property again.

Great location

You can’t beat the location. Decent price for location. Property is a bit dated. The king bed in is very uncomfortable and every move you make the bed squeaks so loud. We have stayed twice because we really the the location but next time I will sleep in the other room separate from husband because the other bed is just too loud an uncomfortable for both of us.

Hidden Gem

Very clean and great location. We stayed in the Dora. Would like to stay in the Alexander with the balcony next time. A bit out-dated but I’m still giving 5 stars due to cleanliness and being very roomy. The king bed mattress is very firm and the bed squeaks a lot. Looking forward to going back!

Spacious digs in great location

Overall a great experience. Had a couple of issues with air conditioning and small maintenance items but the management company responded quickly. Parking wasn’t overly challenging and it was great to be in the middle of everything. Thumbs up!

Close to everything

Parking was a challenge but was doable with no issues. The rental was much better than I expected!. We both love ed it. The entry was a little dark at night. It was very quiet and had everything we needed. Much bigger than I thought. Bathroom very nice but toilet and sink lower than we were used to. We loved Mt Dora!!kitchen is huge.

Clean the mold and it will be perfect!

We chose this spot because of the location. HOWEVER, the first evening I kept thinking I was smelling cat urine. It was terrible. A little research lead me to the realization that black mold is often mistaken for cat urine. My guess is that that’s what it is because after the second night I woke up with a terrible sore throat. Not only is this not comfortable for people, it’s unsafe. The place looks clean, but clearly there is hidden mold.

Pleasantly Surprised

My family and I booked this place because it was close to a rehabilitation facility my grandfather had been in for 3 months and he has no family close by. We were able to visit him and pack up his apartment to get him moved closer to family during our visit. This listing does not fully do this place justice in my opinion. It's a great condo with high ceilings and plenty of room for four adults and lots of comfortable seating in the living room. The bedrooms have ample room and the main bedroom has a large walk in closet. The bathroom is also a decent size but the shower is a corner shower and a bit awkward for the space. The unit was very clean when we checked in. The washer/dryer in unit was incredibly handy for us. It is in the heart of downtown surrounded by restaurants and bars so the nightlife could definitely be heard but things seemed to quiet down at a respectable hour for us, as we were exhausted from our daily excursions of packing and running errands. The king bed frame was incredibly loud and creaky and made noises at the slightest of movements, but made us laugh every time. The owner was prompt in answering questions and super gracious with some special requests for our group and we were very grateful for the hospitality. Our group was saddened we had very little time to explore the surrounding area as it looked super fun. We did have breakfast up the street at Cody's Cafe a few times and I'd highly recommend it, the food was great and staff was spectacularly friendly. Staying here gave us a place to rest and recoup from taking care of a difficult situation and it made handling the weeks events so much easier to deal with and process.

Christmas experience in mt dora

We enjoyed our stay. No soap products were available I.e bar soap, hand soap or any dish soap. There is a large sticky stain in front of the couch covered up by the ottamon, left over popcorn and a roach on the baseboard near this area.
