My best friend, and I stayed at the RIU for five days to celebrate our birthdays. When booking We booked to have a room with a tub and ocean view, once we arrived and checked in they presented us with a supposedly upgrade. We got to the room to see that we didn’t have a tub, and view was more like a “far away” view of the ocean. We didn’t press it because at least we had an elevator and we could see the pools. The elevator was a bonus even though it smelled like sewage every day. The water also smells like sewage. The food was very med, the only good food that we experienced on the resort was Pepe’s and they’re only opened from 12-3pm. The beach on the resort is also very med, and a little dirty. There were metal forks, cups, and paper coming out of the sand. The pool closes at 6pm and the entertainment wasn’t great so there’s really nothing to do after that. I broke my ankle while on this trip and there was no nurse on site, I had to wait till I arrived home. Everybody was nice until it was time to check out. They charged us $240 for a makeup smudge in the sheets, arguing that there was no way to get it out. They took pictures and everything, really wish I would’ve pressed this a little more because those sheets didn’t cost that much!! Maybe $60 on a high end but $240 was robbery. Getting off the resort was my favorite part of the trip. I hope this review helps, I plan on staying at a different resort my next visit.

I traveled alone, it was my first time in Jamaica.. I had a wonderful time I felt safe and I really enjoyed how close the beach was.. I loved that there where so many pools.. it was a great vibe for a group or solo traveler like myself the activities and the shows were awesome.. i jus wish the food was better nun the less I would recommend.

We stayed on the RIU Montego Bay resort for four days with no working AC in our room. This caused the room to be damp and muggy along with the ceiling being wet and molding. The food is not good at all even the resorts restaurant. If you misplace your towel key they wi be expecting you to pay $25 to replace it. Once your stay is over make sure to get your yellow wrist band taken off or your credit/ debit card will be charged as if you are still there. The bar tenders in the pool area are amazing and very nice. This is for sure a party resort so if you’re looking to just party then go but be expected to leave the resort to eat. There is also no ATM on the property you will have to walk outside the resort to use a ATM that will charge you $10 the ATM ant the store will charge you $14. The excursions were very nice.

While we throughly enjoyed the entertainment & staff there were many things we noticed on this trip to riu montego bay that disappointed us as returning guests. First and foremost being the live cockroach we saw in the food area during lunch service one day during our stay & the frequent flies on all the food in the rose hall buffet and the asian and Italian restraunt buffets as well. We also noticed that the pools were all only open until 6pm and often had bugs floating in the water. & unlike our previous trip we were not assisted with our luggage once at the resort or during departure. Overall , we love the atmosphere, entertainment, and staff at the riu montego bay. However , the bugs in and around the food area was truly disappointing, along with all dinner services ending at 10pm & the only thing available past that time being stale nachos and hot dogs in the sports bar. Overall just not a good food experience and we actually ordered out food delivery multiple times during our stay costing us additional money during our all inclusive stay. We do love riu & montego bay as weve returned 3 times. However i do feel as though we missed out on a lot of what we paid for as far as the luxury experience we were expecting. The best part of this resort in my opinion is the riu entertainment crew. We hope to return someday and hopefully have a better experience.
