Stay in home area

This is a new and ongoing renovation of this property. The interior for a 1-BR provides needs. I provided recommendations to the owners to complete the unit so they can succeed. SmartTV but no cable so channels don't come through clearly. The neighborhood is not what an individual expects for a VRBO. Located in between Main Motors car dealership and a small used car dealership. Located in a building that has storefront, including a Buy/Sell Gold Silver shop.

On our first night we never received check in instructions. We emailed and called with no response. We had to call VRBO and they also tried contacting the owner of the property with no reply. Finally at 10:30pm we were told we had to find our own hotel for the night and we would be refunded for our hotel expense. The owners responded the next morning and gave us check in instructions. That night we go to our place and the instructions had told us to use the lock box on the door frame to get the key. There is no lock box on the door frame. We have to call them and find out the lock box is gone and the key is in a different spot. It was just a lot of unnecessary hassle and kind of ruined the night. We got to bed very late and had plans early in the morning. When you pull up to this place, the building itself looks very ghetto and sketchy. Inside of the apartment is very nice and very clean. The parking was very limited due to road construction on the side street.

I booked 2 rooms, one for my husband and I and one for an employee. We booked a smoke-free room and were immediately hit with a smoke smell when we walked through the hallway. When we entered our room, it smelled like they tried to cover up the smoke smell with air freshener which resulted in a horrible combination. We each ended up taking cold showers in the three mornings we stayed because there was not enough hot water for even one 10 min shower. I booked this hotel because it had a current rating of 8/10, but will not be booking again in the future!
