Trailside Retreat 2 bedroom cabin - dogs welcome

Summary:
This charming two-bedroom cabin is located right on the Methow Trail System at the Wilson Ranch property. Tucked amongst the trees for privacy with the trail running along the edge of the property. The cabin features a galley kitchen, living room with fold out couch, dining table and gas stove, and 2 bedrooms each with a king bed. Enjoy Nordic skiing, mountain biking and hiking from your door. Dogs welcome.

The Space:
Trailside Retreat is a charming two bedroom cabin located on the Wilson Ranch property set at the edge of the forest wilderness. In winter the Sandy Butte nordic ski trail passes right by the cabin providing direct access to the Upper Methow nordic trail system right from your door. Just strap on your boots or shoes and start skiing, biking, or hiking directly from your doorstep.

The wood paneled living room features a fold out couch (makes up into a queen-sized bed), easy chair, dining table for 6, wide screen TV, gas stove and wood floors. Each of the two carpeted bedrooms has a king bed and corner windows with views of the forest.

The galley kitchen is located off the entryway and has an electric stove with oven, under counter refrigerator, microwave, sink and coffee maker. There is a compact bathroom with a shower. A small deck is equipped with a propane BBQ grill and a pair of adirondack chairs with a picnic table nearby. This cozy cabin makes a great Mazama basecamp for up to six guests.

The North Cascade Heli Skiing operation is also located on the Freestone property making this cabin a convenient option for heli-skiers (do expect to see and hear helicopter take off and landings during ski season). The Methow Community Trail passes through Wilson Ranch providing access to the upper valley nordic ski and mountain bike trail system (including Jacks, and River Run trails) as well as a connection to the Mazama trailhead hub with more trail options.

The Neighborhood:
MAZAMA
Wilson Ranch is located 2 miles (10 minute bike ride) from the Mazama Store and the Methow Trails trailhead (for great hiking, mountain biking and cross-country ski trail options). In addition to the store with its great bakery and grocery, Mazama is home to the Goat’s Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals), the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski hire and lessons and the Mazama Public House. Please be aware that the Sandy Butte Bistro at the nearby Freestone Inn is not currently operating, and Jack's Hut may or may not be open on a very limited basis.

NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK
The Wilson Ranch cabins are also conveniently situated for easy access to the North Cascades and the trailheads to many of the Park's world-class hiking trails. It’s under 20 minutes' drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 25 minutes to Washington Pass and 30 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead. Great for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.

Getting Here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. The nearest major airports are Spokane International Airport at 180 miles (year round) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee located 102 miles away.

The cabin is close to the perfect place in the woods for those seeking serviced seclusion. While easy to imagine being miles away from anywhere, the closest decent coffee is mere footsteps away and a fresh-baked croissant, kombucha or caramel confection just a mile, or so, down the road. The property is well-equipped although the kitchen a little compact for people who may want to cook for themselves. The beds were generous and comfortable while the cabin itself was clean and quiet. We struggled to find the place as the GPS we were relying on stopped functioning as we pulled in off the main road. It would have been helpful if we'd printed off the detailed instructions previously provided by the management company.Highly recommened.

Right on the trail

Lovely time with the trail right outside the door. New dishwasher and an Nespresso machine were a nice touch. We’ve come for years and stayed in another cabin. The addition of excellent WiFi was nice. Will come again.

Family gem

We loved our stay. Proximity to the trails, the location amongst neighbors (very private), and the amenities were perfect for our family of 5. We’ll happily visit again.
