I’m not sure if it was just me but I felt I was haunted. The TV was on itself at 3AM and there was this odd noise on the ceiling. The smell from the sewage drain in the bathroom kept me awake all night. I had to wake up at 2am to find something to block the space underneath the bathroom door. I did light up my scented candle all night, but the smell still didn’t go away. The cleanliness was terrible with the price I’m paying. Honestly, I didn’t have much sleep and it made me wonder if it was the worst stay I’ve ever had. Some of the staff were friendly, some didn’t even look at me. So overall stay if you can find somewhere with similar price I would not recs.

Excellent overnight stay in Mackay

We booked a room for one night on our week long road trip from Brisbane to Airlie Beach. The room was exactly what we expected and ideal for one night. The free breakfast was an added bonus. The highlight of our stay was our dinner at Fusion 128, which was in the centre of Mackay but easily accessed by car.

The room could have been great and value for money but it was filthy. The mirror was smeared with something, there was a pile of clothes left in the room from the last guests, the walkway outside looked like someone had vomitted and it had only been partially cleaned. Breakfast options on weekends are limited.

Great stay, fabulous staff.

Although a little way out of the main part of the town, we would definitely stay here again. We arrived 3 hours before the check in time and the owners couldn’t have been more helpful. They said they would get our room ready first, and that is exactly what they did. Within 15 mins of arriving we were in our room, which meant we could leave our luggage and go out exploring. All staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. It was peaceful sitting on the balcony and you couldn’t hear people in any of the other rooms which was a bonus. The room had a kitchenette, was very clean and comfortable. Thanks to the staff for making us feel very welcome.

Good location and very close to the beach. I used the walking track for my evening runs to the riverfront and back. The rooms are well appointed however you can see signs of wear and tear. The room was quite dark however opening up the curtain all the way makes a difference. If you have a neighbour who smokes, then opeing the back sliding door is not a good idea. There were landscaping works going on in the back which was mildly distracting. The WiFi is horrendous and if you're travelling for business like me and need a stable WiFi connection, this is not the place to stay. Management could easily add more network points. Mobile reception is also quite poor in the area. I was only given one key which is needed to turn the power to the room on. At night time, this becomes an inconvenience as it is pitch dark in the room and difficult to find your way around.

a quick stay at oceanside hotel passing through mackay. we have stayed at this hotel a few times and its always great. easy parking and plenty of overflow parking out the front if you have trailers or large vehicles etc. rooms are always clean, after hours checkin is a breeze. comfy bed and a good pressure hot shower what more could you ask for! will be back for sure!
