The Ginger Jar House is a beautiful example of Victoriana with the bonus of all the modern conveniences. For a house of this age, it is amazingly solid and very well-insulated. We had anticipated weathering a pretty significant wind event - but it was cozy & muted inside. The layout is extremely conducive to a family gathering and the kitchen is well-appointed. The bedrooms are very comfortable with full bathrooms for each. Every room felt like a welcoming home made just for us. My son loved the attic room and though the stairs are steep, they’re well lit with a very solid handrail. Our goal was to have a place that was accessible and comfortable for my 87 year old Mom - and she loved it! She raved about the bed and every chair she sat in. Her specific comment was that the house is beautifully designed and decorated but it felt like it was designed and decorated for us to be able to make it ours for our stay. We particularly enjoyed being walking distance to the HEB as well as to our family who recently moved to La Grange. It was excellent for what we needed for a brief stay - but I think it would be glorious for an even longer stay to take further advantage of its own amenities as well as all that La Grange has to offer.
