Average hotel on a boat

It's an ok hotel, not luxury, moderately comfortable but the rooms are small and the bathroom has no door. It's a novelty to stay on a boat and the bar is pretty good (when it's open). I wouldn't pay extra for the breakfast, again it's ok but nothing better than that.

Cramped Room, Lacking Basics.

Room was very small, making it virtually impossible to open a suitcase for a change of clothes. Air conditioning was via a portable unit, which had to vent into the corridor. This meant that to have anything like an acceptable temperature in the room, the door had to be left open all night. There is a glass partition between the shower/toilet and the beds, giving very little privacy. However close you are to your travelling companion, you are unlikely to want to be in such close and open proximity to them when they carry out their morning ablutions. With the air con unit plugged in, there was one other plug socket, so we were unable to charge 2 phones at a time. The host was an absolute gentleman, and if i was 9 years old i would undoubtedly have enjoyed the adventure; but as an adult looking for a restful night before onward travel, this place was lacking for the price paid. I have pictures to illustrate my points, but the Hotels.com site will not let me upload them.

Brasserie wasn’t open and no on site facilities to make tea coffee water or breakfast. Room was hot and stuffy unable to open the windows. Also be warned the bathroom has no door and has a glass window so very little privacy!

Great and different place to stay

I really like to stay at this boat hotel. It's been my second time.The atmosphere is great and unique. It rocks a little bit when other boats pass by but, hey, life is not perfect and after a while I got used to it. The bar and restaurant upstairs are welcoming and the food is good. Every time I go I meet nice interesting people!

The only way to describe this place is unique. Don't bother going to a stuffy normal hotel, stay on a barge for the night. The bar upstairs is well stocked and there are various types of places to eat within 300 metres. The rooms have ensuite shower/sink/toilet and the view out of the windows makes you the animal in the zoo as the local wildlife looks in thro the window on a morning. The host Stefan is a joy to be with. Next time I am in the area I will not hesitate to book a room (cabin)

The Bootel Ahoi is a small-ish ship that is docked along the non-shipping channel of the Leie River. The rooms are river view, and by that I mean the river is at the bottom of your window! My room was clean, comfortable but basic, and a little stuffy -- the fan helped but not a place you open your windows for fresh air. There is a happy hour bar on the top deck that is relaxing and you are not that far from the city center. I think they have done a good job in making it a unique place to stay. Kortrijk is a city experiencing much growth and revitalization.
