Classic, updated beach house surrounded by live oaks. This 4 bedroom, 2 bath home is within walking distance to the beautiful beaches of Southern Shores on the Outer Banks. You'll have a well-equipped kitchen with a gas range for cooking and all modern stainless steel appliances and a large comfortable sofa in the great room with a flat screen TV, DVD player, cable, and board games. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen bed and private deck, sharing a bathroom. The main floor has one bedroom with a king-size bed and one bedroom with two twin beds. All linens and towels are provided. There is also a ground floor laundry room with an extra fridge/freezer and multiple beach chairs and accessories. Rinse off in the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. The large, fenced-in backyard is very private and has plenty of space for your dogs and the wraparound deck is gated allowing pets and guests to roam. An ideal, quiet location to escape with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment conveniently located nearby. Active duty military, veterans, and first responders receive a discount.
The cottage is air-conditioned and features a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 4 bedrooms. Guests can expect to find free WiFi and a Smart TV with a DVD player. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fenced private yard, and a coffee maker.

Puppers Beach Getaway!

We had a wonderful stay at this dog-friendly beach house! It was such a treat to find a place that welcomed our pups and had so many thoughtful amenities—kitchen, beach gear, games, books, washer/dryer and even a dog bowls. The location was perfect, and we spent hours enjoying the outdoor space and nearby beach, plenty of wonderful food options nearby, we LOVED Barefoot Bernie’s and Southern Shores Pizza and Deli. The only downside was the beds—they were a bit uncomfortable and could use an upgrade. But overall, the experience was fantastic, and we’d absolutely come back (especially if the beds get a refresh!).Highly recommend for anyone traveling with pets and looking for a relaxing getaway! We can’t wait to come back and visit again

Great little beach cottage!

We stayed here while our home was undergoing some repairs and absolutely loved this place! It was perfect for our older dog, who explored the huge fenced in backyard and got to romp daily on the great beaches! We loved being able to easily walk to the beach and the walking paths and trails throughout Chickhauk were ideal! The hosts were so accommodating to our needs and super responsive. I would recommend this property to anyone who loves a cozy beach cottage experience.

Respite in OBX

Stayed at this property for a week with my senior mom. It was everything I hoped for! Arrived to a spotless home. Spacious and comfortable with a well-appointed kitchen. Loved cooking dinner each evening and spending time in the living room just 'hanging out' with mom.The outdoor area is ideal for dog owners! I never had to fear my two hyper pups would get loose with the enclosed back yard and the gate setup.Dual heating zones kept the home toasty warm for my mom, water for showers was quite hot which was wonderful.Owners were responsive to any questions I had and the whole process of checking in and out was painless.Very grateful to have found this gem in the Southern Shores.

We enjoyed our stay in this charming pet-friendly house. The house is well-furnished and clean. The setup of the house was very comfortable for everyone and it was well-stocked with bedding, towels, kitchen supplies, and beach items. The multi-gate system for the deck and lawn gave us great peace of mind for our dogs. The hosts were very helpful and communicative with us. Thank you for a great stay!

Comfortable stay

Our family of six adults and one child with dogs enjoyed our stay at this beach house. It was close to beach access and beach parking. The fenced backyard was wonderful and the house was comfortable and well stocked. Our only complaint is that the shared upstairs bathroom door did not lock and there are no bathroom vents. This made it a little awkward going to the bathroom but would not keep us from renting again. The bedrooms were well furnished and the beds were comfortable. If you have anyone in your group with mobility issues just be aware that the steps to the upstairs could be a challenge. We enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful trip.

Huge Fenced-in Yard Southern Shores!

Everything you could need, in a lovely and quiet setting

We could not be happier with our stay here! The location is perfect: so close to the beach, yet quiet and private. The entire area was very nice. The property was spotlessly clean, and everything is of good quality and in excellent condition. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of storage and extra blankets, pillows, towels, etc. The kitchen has everything one could possibly need, and then some, in addition to high-end appliances and beautiful countertops. Every aspect of this property offers anything you could need. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and we hope to return next summer.

Lovely stay close to the beach

We had a truly lovely time in Southern Shores at this property. The area/ neighborhood felt very safe and peaceful, and had all the amenities we needed - perfect for a stay where we just wanted to go screenless, cook, and walk to the beach. Our dogs loved sunbathing on the deck and with the multiple gates and fenced backyard, we never worried about them escaping and getting lost! Location is very convenient with no essential service less than 5 mins drive. Thank you so much for hosting us!

A delight!

I set out to rent a house in Duck but all the houses were really too big (sleeps 18?). I was looking for a comfortable dog friendly home reasonably close to the beach. Boy did we luck out. The house was very nice. The fenced in backyard was perfect. But the neighborhood!! I hadn’t heard of Southern Shores, but it is a delight. Shh!!! Don’t tell anyone!

Relaxing Stay

My family and family's dog stayed here the 2nd week of September. Fantastic trip. The hosts Drew and Sarah were very responsive in answering some pre-trip questions and then getting us sorted out mid-trip to stay an added day. A few items around the place need some maintenance but overall it's a lovely property that is clean, well-furnished, private and well-located. On the first day, I was concerned with my older parents getting to the beach as it is a 10 min. walk, but to our surprise, the parking lots which passes are provided for were always 90-100% empty so we began driving to the beach for most trips. The walk is fine for non-seniors. There's a lighted cross-walk to cross over the main road to the beach - it did take 5 minutes to change but it's great for safety so I appreciated it. The property has a large, fenced backyard and the deck has stairs that lead directly down into the yard - there's a gate across the front-yard stairs. This made keeping my family's Beagle on the property a delight. You can just open either of the main doors off the deck to let your dog run on the deck or down to the backyard. While not beach-front property, the location is great being down a quiet and private neighborhood and it's only a 10-15 min. drive to restaurants and shops in both the Duck and Kitty Hawk directions. There were just a couple others on the beach ever. Rooms are well furnished and there's a good selection of beach gear. We'll be staying here again.

Perfect get away

As a very hard working, single mom, my vacation is important. Sarah and Drew's place was perfect. Every ammenty was there and all the little extras were thought of for me! The beach is gorgeous and such a nice close walk. The neighborhood was perfect for evening dog walking. Loved it! Thank you!

Amazing vacation

Drew and Sarah’s house is wonderful for all ages. It is clean, spacious, and just a 10-minute walk from the beach. They have thought of everything, including a beach cart to bring any of the many treasures in their storage room that they lend to guests. It was a huge perk for packing and then shopping when we arrived there to be able to focus just on the basics, like groceries, but not on things like spices, a spatula, or a cutting board. They’ve got plenty of extras, too, like an air fryer, blender, and slow cooker. They are super communicative, and are great VRBO hosts. We’re a multigenerational family of 6 plus dog, and everyone was happy. Thank you, Drew and Sarah!

Wonderful home

Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood close enough for the family to walk to the beach. Fully stocked kitchen, so making meals for the family was a breeze. All the beach gear was right there, so we really didn't need to bring anything! Lots to do for the kids with a nice amount of games on hand and a great big smart TV for movie night. We had a wonderful week at this special home in a great neighborhood!
