APA Hotel Karuizawa Ekimae Karuizawaso

The hotel was at a bus station and JR train station, it was convenient for eat and shop, it was just 10 minutes walk to the large outlet shopping ceter. The hotel staffs were friendly, the room cleanedand rest room were cleaned. The breakfast was enough good and yummy food. gWe liked the stay.

What a hotel

This hotel beside having the advantage on location near to the train station, nothing worth mentioning. Can u imagine, they only offer 1 bottle of mineral water n the vending machine did not refil the mineral water. Out of no choice, i ask the hotel for 1 bottle as it is late in the night to go out to find a store. The staff make me pay for it. They make a mistake to put me in a wrong room n after i settle down, insist i need to move out. The hotel isnt in high occupancy rate. Y cant they just let it be. N is winter but the warm air is not working well.

Made my trip so much easier!

I closed this hotel due to my last stay at APA Asakusa, Tokyo. The APA hotel and crew again made my trip very easy. From check-in to luggage service, the staff smiled sincerely and with very polite gestures. The room is very spacious given the superb location , I found all the amenities clean and up to date. 5 stars ? I would give it a 10.

We arrived in early at 1:30pm and checked in our baggage because check in time was 3pm, so we went to the shopping plaza instead, after while we arrived and got our room keycard and went to the room, realise that the it has been use by other people or either the previous person just had a late check out, the housekeeping was not done properly and the previous person left his coffee in the fridge and the toilet was not clean and the shaver and the tower was still there, the worst case is the aircond doesn’t work properly even I set 20’c and the room temperature is still 27’C . I had to borrow a fan from the front desk.

This is my 3rd time in APA Karuizawa and l feel like the level has degraded. We were placed in the newly built ward. When booking, it was stated that it was the new ward so I didn't pay much attention to it, but when entering the room I was disappointed with the size of it. The room design and setup was identical to the rooms I got in previous years, but it was smaller and more cramped. The planning of the rooms isn't great - The two twin beds were too big, making walking inside the room barely possible because of the massive other furniture (desk and chair) let alone room for a suitcase. But that I can live with. The main problem for me was the service in the hotel which only seems to cater to the Japanese businessman coming to stay, and not caring much for the rest of the guests from abroad: On the early morning of our first day of stay, the fire alarm went on. It woke me off so I quickly got up to put some clothes on me. The fire alarm went for a few minutes, following by an announcement on the speakers by the staff. It lasted for about a minute and stopped. My wife and I opened the door in panick, ready do go downstairs when we stumbled on our neighbour to the room who happened to be Japanese. I asked her what the announcement said and she said that it said that it is a mistake. That felt to me extremely unprofessional. You have guests from abroad staying in your hotel, and the least you can do is say "sorry, mistake" in English when your fire alarm goes on.

Good deal

The property is in a convenient location that is a few minutes walk from the main station, restaurants and shops. Public parking is also a few minutes walk away. The rooms were small but clean. Staff was helpful. Free coffee available in the lobby. It was great for the price.

Disappointing

Booked this hotel becos it’s next to the bus and train station. Honestly, this is the only plus point for staying here. The overall experience is disappointing. First time I didn’t sleep well throughout the 3 nights stay due to noises from the movement of cars outside and the bright light coming from the aircon unit control hung on the wall next to the bed. I had feedback to the front desk that the aircon was also noisy and requested for a change of room. The senior male receptionist replied that all the rooms’ aircon units were noisy hence there was no difference. The bed was very soft for my liking and the bedroom space was very tight to accommodate two beds, they were just 1 feet apart. The shower was very tight too. Over the front desk, there was a lack of welcoming smiles from the hotel staff. I’m sure I won’t be returning to this hotel for my next trip to Karuizawa for above reasons.
