The rental property isn’t a townhouse as advertised, but an apartment on the first floor of the building. Furthermore, the entrance to this apartment is located in an alley next to the building near several trash bins… The apartment itself wasn’t properly cleaned prior to our arrival (dirty carpets and dust in several areas). When we arrived and notified the host, we were told that the apartment door had simply been left unlocked (!!!) and that the key was on the dining table.
No parking was available on the property and parking in Guttenberg was extremely difficult which made for a rather stressful vacation (We had to be back by 6pm every evening if we wanted to attempt to find parking for the night in the one lot that allowed 12-hour parking).
Communication with the host was subpar. Responses were mainly pre-written and wouldn’t address the specific questions asked. Other times, inquiries would go entirely unanswered.
On the positive side, the city of Guttenberg is very well located for those wanting to visit NYC on a budget. Every morning I was also able to enjoy a cup of coffee and pastries at Las Chicas Bakery located just steps away on JFK Blvd East.
