This little rustic cabin sits in the woods of the Cacapon region of West Virginia, about 25 minutes from Berkeley Springs. It is quiet, private, and dog friendly. The hot tub works well, as does the forced air heating. Plates, mugs, and glassware were all nice. I liked the big maple dining room table and benches. Also, the owner was quick to respond to texts. We were here in the fall and enjoyed the beautiful fall colors, and the drive to the Cacapon State Park was beautiful.
That said, this place could use some attention. The queen bed mattress sinks in the middle, which led to less than ideal sleeping at night. The fire place insert has seen better days. And even with the flue open, keeping the smoke drawing up and out required vigilance. We got too smoky in the cabin two nights out of three. The flatware was kind of odd, very light weight with white plastic handles and was the size of children’s flatware. The water has a lot of discoloration from iron and smells of sulfur - but this makes sense since we were in a hot spring area. The Britta filter provided did not filter out the iron, so I recommend taking your own drinking water. Finally, outside there were, of course, a lot of leaves covering the grounds, but not enough to hide the tarp, shovel, broken trash can, and other various items laying around the grounds. From the pictures online, it appears this cabin has been well used since they were taken, and could now benefit from an update and some TLC.
