The cabin is well updated and was a very clean for our toddler crawl around on. About 20 minutes to Asheville and the home was cozy and comfortable. The driveway is very steep and all-wheel-drive or 4 x 4 is recommended but we did it in our 2 Wheel Dr. SUV.

Stay!

Our stay was so excellent! It was everything we were looking for with a getaway! The house was even better in person then online. It was clean, homey, spacious and so comfortable and we loved how it was pet friendly but never smelled like a pet had been there. It was hard to leave the house because it was so comfortable. We had 1 minor issue with the internet and I emailed the management company and it was resolved immediately. They were super nice about it and resolved the issue. I would recommend this house to anyone whose planning a trip to NC it was great!!

Quiet Retreat

Despite being a bit of a ride from Asheville, we loved the privacy. The road leading up to the house is steep so it’s best to have a 4WD vehicle. The home is older but has updated kitchen, bathrooms and appliances.

Amazing

House was clean. Just have a like it. The decoration were beautiful the way the house was staged was beautiful I would definitely stay there again. The parking area was nice going up to the parking lot and the house. The driveway was very steep but even a regular car can do it if it has either four-wheel-drive or sport mode or gears for going up the mountain I hope the owner read this I wanted to say thank you I had a great birthday. Thank you so much.

Mountain home

It was clean, well appointed. Great kitchen had essentials. Yard was small but being fenced ensured our dog safety. Access road extremely steep. Definitely needed 4 wheel drive to use the road. It was close enough to Asheville and Hendersonville. Which we enjoyed exploring

We had a long weekend in Asheville and the property was great! In between downtown and Chimney Rock, so a great spot. Definitely AWD or 4x4 for the driveway! Property was clean and just as pictured. Fenced yard was a plus. Would stay again!

Anniversary getaway

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The home was just right for us and our dogs. It was very quiet and restful and close enough for a day visit to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. The back yard provided a great space for our dogs to run around and play. We are looking for a place to rent for our sons wedding in the fall and, if available, would love to visit this property again! The only drawback is that the driveway is steep and mostly gravel, so you really would want to have a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel vehicle to get to the house.

Beautiful in NC

We enjoyed our stay at Gerton. This was an excellent choice for us. Three bedrooms (we only used 2) were a good size and comfortable beds. The second floor suite was spacious and yet cozy comfortable. Kitchen counter space was limited but very adequate for our needs. The keyless entry was easy to use and functioned properly. Living area comfortable furniture. Nice sitting area on the deck and large firepit area off the deck was an added plus. Our agent Jen made the check in process simple and seamless. Upon our arrival we discovered the fenced yard had a couple openings that needed repairing so we could use it for our dog. Our agent contacted the property manager and it was addressed immediately and efficiently. We were able to allow our dog to use it and enjoy the large fenced in yard. The only real slightly negative is the size of the shower stalls are quite small. Other than that we loved it.

Visiting family in Fletcher for Thanksgiving

Hickory Nut Hideaway is a lovely home in Gerton, NC. Appreciated that pets are welcome (which was a criteria). Neighbors were very friendly. Raven Hill Rd was steep and gravely; so the suggestion of having AWD/4WD is most accurate. Unfortunately we didn’t get to enjoy more of the property while there since we were out most of the days in Fletcher helping our daughter and son-in-law with their new home in Fletcher which was a half-hour away.

Good Stay

The house is furnished beautifully. There is a house right next door but the tree line provides privacy. Great for dogs as the back yard is fenced in. Things to add- a journal for visitors to leave suggestions for places to visit and eat! Also add local food and places to visit to the welcome book. The owners showed up at 10:12 on our checkout day with their dogs which upset our dog and made leaving a little chaotic.

Nice cabin in Gerton NC

Nice location in Gerton and 20 mins to Asheville . The house was well stocked with towels and kitchen items. It had a nice fire pit out back which we unfortunately did not have time to use. Quiet location. Beds all comfortable with decent linens. Easy check in. All appliances worked and we did not have any issues while we were there.

Very Nice Place

My family and I had a wonderful time. Things about the house that stood out to me was the fire pit area outside and the master bedroom upstairs. We made Smores and sat and talked around the fire. The host provided us with marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers so we could do so worry-free. The bedroom upstairs could probably allow for more sleepers and I am thankful it was set for one HUGE bed. We needed rest after rafting on Nantahala. We took advice from the host and went to the local spots for fresh eggs and fish. People really are friendly at every turn. The driveway from the road was steep and mostly gravel which is to be expected in those parts. A FWD with properly inflated tires handle it with no problems even when wet. It rained quite a bit so we hung inside and cooked and played games in the common area. The main floor is situated for this type of family fun with its open layout.
