Nice place. Clean spacious rooms. Ours had a balcony, which was nice. Only problem was at checkout. The front desk said we needed to pay, even though we pre-paid through Expedia. I refused, which caused a small kerfuffle. I opened the expedia app and chatted with a live agent... who called the hotel directly. Seems like the arrangement between the hotel and Expedia was not workin. Expedia refunded the hotel, then i paid the hotel directly.

Great location and a beautiful boutique hotel. A couple of small items like the shower diverter fell off, but the staff were very nice to deal with. They have a beautiful lounge area where we were able to sit with friends and drink our own wine even though they had a bar to sell their own. Fabulous atmosphere!

Amazing! We booked on the way there. Arrived within 10 minutes and it was so much more than we expected. Super friendly staff, lobby / lounge and rest of common areas were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Rooms were clean and comfortable with all modern amenities

Very disappointed with the bar menu and cocktail menu, not able to eat in the hotel. Booked 3 double rooms and one room had to be changed due to problem with bath and shower, in another of our rooms we had to get the shower fixed as it did not work at all then the third room was made up as a twin and not a double. A disappointing experience. The hotel rooms need checking in general as we all had at least one problem in our rooms.

Too many choices to treat customers poorly.

Overall a nice hotel but I was bike-packing and they didn’t want to let me keep my bicycle in my room. It’s a very expensive bike that would be difficult to replace during a trip if something were to happen. Additionally my on bike baggage is difficult to remove. I insisted I’d be keeping it in my room and they relented but not without the desk clerk acting put out by the request.

This hotel was clean and well-designed , with friendly people and good restaurants nearby . The only negative was an over-abundant use of scent everywhere ; not natural essential oil smell , more hit you over the head piped in perfume smell . ( imo , obvi ) Overall an excellent stay , and we do recommend this hotel highly !

One of the most enjoyable hotel stays we have ever

The Universal Boutique is a very friendly and beautifully presented hotel, situated near to many good restaurants and the casino (should you wish to try your luck!) in Figueira da Foz. My wife and I spent many hours walking around this lovely town, and the walking and cycling paths available around the river and beach together more than compensate for the lack of a fitness suite or pool being available at the hotel. All staff members were extremely pleasant and helpful and, overall, we feel that this is probably one of the most enjoyable hotel stays we have ever had. Muito obrigado to all concerned.

Amazing

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing....this is a must stay in hotel in an amazing town with a spectacular beach. The service and understated efficiency of the staff was a pleasure to experience. Our room was perfectly proportioned with wrap around balconies with a sea view.(Room 402). The bed was the most comfortable that I have slept on during this trip. The breakfast was incredible and excellent value for money. During this stay a quite violent tropical storm made landfall here at Figuera da Foz which caused quite extensive damage to the town. The hotel staff remained attentive and responded well during the crisis and made extra efforts to allow us to make our connections to Lisbon the next day. Had an amazing meal locally.
