Lovely City centre location!

This was our fourth visit to the Indigo and there will be more visits because we love the very convenient city centre location when visiting our son at the Uni. We love the rooms and the decor. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. However, on our most recent visit we felt the standard of the breakfast had slipped a little. When certain items from the buffet ran out they weren’t replenished despite requesting more from staff (e.g. orange juice and fruit). Comparing to our previous visits, I had the feeling that perhaps the breakfast room was a little understaffed? Having said this, the hot breakfast items were delicious.

Average stay

Our room was lovely and the location is great. The service at the bar and for breakfast service was poor however. Took forever for our breakfast to arrive, and had to ask for cutlery etc. It was a bit chaotic. The breakfast was very good though, when it did arrive! I also asked for a bottle of fizz to be in our room as it was my wife’s birthday, which was sorted (along with some very tasty carrot cake!) However, on checkout I realised this cost £60! I checked the bottle online and retails at around £10 in the supermarkets. An expensive mistake! Won’t rush back, but have certainly stayed at worse hotels.

Exeter stay

Very nice,as usual. Slight disappointment over breakfast. No salt & pepper on the table, no spoon with coffee cup. Gave my breakfast to neighbouring table so slight delay.

Central location in Exeter

This Hotel, was literally right in the middle of a shopping mall and near the Cathedral. Hotel provided details for nearby parking station's, which meant a short bag drag to hotel. Pedestrian zone only. Our room was very modern and spacious. Nice rooftop bar with views to Cathedral. Easy food options nearby.

Good but could be quite a bit better! The positive: Really lovely staff at the front desk and in the restaurant. Nice walkable location. Comfortable bed. Quirky and nice decor. Good coffee drinks at the restaurant. The needs improvement: Gosh, why can't there be hooks to hang the towels on? There's nowhere to put them! Restaurant: just not...very good. At a guess I'd say the quality of the raw ingredients isn't very good? I like the idea of ordering a hot breakfast but it only really works if the result is tasty. Which it never was. The "be advised if you're staying here": Our room overlooked a street where there was a busker playing for hours. This meant no peace and quiet during the day. Also, there was some really loud music til 11pm on Friday night - again - just useful to know. It is city centre, so that's for better and for worse. The "folks, you REALLY need to clean up your act": The spa, when I visited on Friday afternoon, was a disgrace. Used drinking glasses and towels everywhere. No clean towels available in the changing room. No fresh glasses for anyone wanting water (dangerous actually). No one monitoring the temperatures resulting in a steam room I'm pretty sure was dangerously hot. Some marks on one of the two hot tubs that looked suspiciously like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. All it would take is someone coming in every 20-30 minutes or so to have made it a better experience. Definitely not worth £35.
