Wonderful place, so peaceful for watching the sunrise. However, you need to be able to tune out occasional traffic noise if you leave the door open.

Loved the highland cows

We had a small issue with the self check in as the gate number provided in the email didn't work. I managed to ring the hosts and after a few minutes it was sorted and we were able to gain access. The lodge was very comfortable, nicely decorated and well equipped for a self catering stay. Everything you needed to cook a meal including a microwave oven a fridge and a kettle. I loved the 4 highland cows in the field just outside the lodge, this was partly my reason for booking this accommodation.

There is a very true saying about Scotland: it’s where a person goes to find peace, a sense of calm. This fact is doubly true about Orchard Lake Lodges. A welcome from Highland Coos from mere feet away. A gorgeous view of the glens near the property. A huge room, complete with all the necessities one could need. And all nearby Edinburgh. After a day (alright, perhaps an hour) of the crowds in the Royal Mile, having a place to stay in the country, with no stress, in a clean, well-lighted place— nothing could be better. I spend most of my time Down South, and this journey was an absolutely welcome reprieve. Even the towels smelled lovely. I very much look forward to returning, a glorious peace of mind most certainly resulting. Thank you!

Lovely area, and delightful to watch the coos. The only drawback was it was a bit hard to see the road exiting the property, but we also had a larger vehicle.

We arrived at night time to the serenity of this cabin and the sleep was incredible being out in the countryside. Waking up to the highland cows in the morning right outside of the window was magical. The price at $150 usd a night is a little high but the experience and peace and worth it.

We really liked the idea of having the cows around. We were excited that it was close to the city that we could have the best of both worlds. We were disappointed that the cows were in the pasture away from the rooms. So we didn't get to really enjoy them that way. The rooms were nice size, clean and had lots of amenities for you to cook or eat in the room. Ours had a 2 person dinning table and we saw some had couches or love seats. Had a bit of an issue getting information as I had a different sim card for traveling and they didn't reply to my messages through expedia to do the confirmation. Not everyone has what's app. Overall with out getting to really see the cows we would have saved time and money staying in the city.

Clean with all necessary amenities and great views. Safe and the area is quiet, however the walls are thin and you can hear the people in the adjacent room. Quick and easy drive to town or a decently long but doable walk. The cows were fun to see but you can't pet them. Overall, we enjoyed the stay.

Orchard House Lodges was our base for nearly a week. It was the perfect place to unwind and rest after our days of touring beautiful Scotland. It was clean and furnished with everything we needed, including preparing simple meals when we desired. The views are beautiful, it’s very quiet, and only a couple of miles into town for any shopping needs or restaurants/take-outs you may want. Overall a wonderful choice for those who don’t love crowded cities and hotels! Oh, and the highland coos are beautiful!!!

The lodge including kitchenware, beddings, etc was clean and tidy. The highlight is with highland cows as neighbour. Check in and check out are super easy. 30 mins drive from Edinburgh City centre. Idea to avoid staying in much more expensive and crowded area without acceptable travel time. The environment was very quite and cozy. We had a very comfortable stay. Especially the Highland cows make children super excited and impressed! Thank you!

The lodge room was cozy and comfortable. Very comfortable beds and very clean. There were many great amenities in the room like hot plate, toaster oven, mini fridge, and tea kettle. The shower had amazing water pressure and after long days of activities in Edinburgh like Arthur's seat, it was just what we needed to feel fresh and relaxed. I loved the heilan coos right outside.They were so cute and ended up being the only ones I saw on my trip to Scotland. Wished I could pet them but I understand. When I was stood taking pictures of them, my hand brushed up against a plant that had my finger stinging badly for a few hours. Not sure what it was, some type of nettle maybe? But it would be nice if those were removed from areas where guests may come into contact. Overall I would recommend orchard house lodges for anyone wanting a low key, cozy and comfortable get away in the countryside.
