Friendly staff, nice setting and generally a really pleasant hotel. It was a really nice last minute stay for a couple of days. This is partly on me of course as I didn’t complain after the first night thinking it would be a hassle to move rooms but I defo should have asked. We stayed in room 216 and I’d just like to pass on that the bed was fairly broken on one side, the left as you lie on it. There was a big dip and I could feel springs. The bed was big enough where we both managed to squeeze on mostly the good side the second night but this really needs replacing asap for any future guests. Other than that I would definitely stay here again. It also looked so pretty with all the Christmas decorations, they really made a lovely effort ☺️

Staff are amazing and so helpful. I had an issue with my booking and they helped me out so much. Not many hotels would have done this. So friendly and very welcoming. Hotel cozy and warm. Highly recommend.

What a great find. A beautiful, characterful hotel with the friendliest staff I’ve ever come across. Great, cosy room with everything you need and beautifully clean and comfortable. We only had the opportunity to stay for one night but I thoroughly recommend it and we will be back

Really great find. Excellent food and a great bar. Staff were just brilliant, Charlotte especially. Wonderful, very quiet and well appointed. Just great to sit in the main room with a book and admire the view. We did the taxi to Durham Cathedral just to complete our day.

The room i booked was a cozy double 102..On entering the room ,the main light wouldn't switch on . I tried many times ,i even put my phone torch on to see if i had gotten the wrong switch . Eventually it can on and i could get into the room . It was a nice room with tea and coffee ,and even a bottle of water . The was in a glass bottle that i think they top up . Staff were fine and helpful only criticisms were no comfy chair/s in the room, and it was a bit bizarre lying listening to the couple next doors conversation, the walls must be very thin indeed, apart from that all good, breakfast was really good value for money, and we will stay again

Lovely location and very friendly staff. WiFi doesn’t work at all in the upper reaches of the Manor House. Room Carpet was filthy with stains in several places.

Lovely surroundings. Our room was cozy. Nicely decorated but carpet could have benefited from a shampoo. En suite very small. Shower small if you are not very thin! Window seat only sitting option which was ok if not closing curtains Lovely food in the evening. Breakfast average and not great selection for continental. All in all though we would definitely return but would book larger room

Staff helpful on arrival. Let us into our room early. Thank you. Location quiet but convenient for town park & ride to visit local attractions. Room was airy & clean. Breakfast good. Only down side was the heavy fire doors that were noisy when going in & out of rooms. Shook the walls.

61 Durham is a lovely looking hotel with some building maintenance issues which is a shame. The breakfast included in our deal was absolutely gorgeous, staff throughout were very personable. The lounge was also very comfortable, however the bedroom we stayed in was too small - a cosy double. Windows and sills need attention as does the surrounding plasterwork this side of the winter I would suggest. The ensuite was reasonably well maintained. I appreciate the above concerns need money but I would suggest this would polish up what is essentially a lovely hotel within the Durham environs.
