Extremely frustrating with both host and VRBO

The host did not send check-in instructions until 640pm after VRBO staff and myself tried to contact her, as check in is at 5pm. After arriving at the property, we looked inside the window and it had not been cleaned at 6:15pm (beds unmade). We scrambled to find another place quickly due to it being late in the day.The host only did a partial refund and VRBO would not help. I had three “chats”, and two phone calls with customer service with no resolution. I had to call my bank for escalation of refund charges.

Great location - just “okay” house

The location is amazing, as is the host. The downside is how outdated and under maintained the house is. The site says infers it is recently updated but that’s just a new floor (poor quality) and new countertops. The screen doors on the sliding door are broke, huge cobwebs in the top of the ceiling, the basement screen door is held closed with a rock, the laundry is creepy, etc. The trees are overgrown, and no drapes for privacy in the second property. Worst of all is if you flush the primary bathroom toilet the entire house smells like sewage… so don’t use the primary bathroom under any circumstances.

Not what we expected

The property was in terrible disrepair. Showers were either 1 with a leaking shower head or the other had a door that was so DIFFICULT to close that we were afraid it would break. The sink in the bathroom wouldn’t drain.The mattresses were so bad that 3 of the 4 adults were at the chiropractor upon returning home. Also stained. We arrived to find a broken bed that wasn't repaired til the next day. We were ask if a maintaince man could replace a piece of wood the day after we arrived. I agreed before i saw the bed was broken in the middle and didnt lay flat. The 1 bedroom had 2 large glass window/doors but only one was covered. So the sleeping or dressing allowed no privacy. It was not what we hoped for and not worth the money. We would not return.
