Alva Hotel Brautarholt
The hotel itself was very nice and cozy, the rooms were clean and comfortable. However, the “free parking” is misleading. It is actually street parking nearby, most of which is paid, some of it is free. However it is not clearly marked, some of it is a couple of blocks away, and most of it is full. ...

Castle House Luxury Apartments
Calling this “luxury” is absurd. Cramped apartment, hot water never really hot, planes flying low overhead to land at the domestic airport nearby. Very basic budget accommodations.

I couldn’t fault the location of this apartment. Straight overlooking the main shopping street. However, the bar in the ground floor was audible, luckily the music was great, but there was a lot of loud groups arriving and leaving. The owners emailed a few days before the trip to say they would leave ...

A very nice hotel. Loved the spot access downstairs for guests. It was nice to hot tub and relaxed down there for a little while. The rooms were comfortable and it is very convenient location to walk to the cute downtown. Have to find parking on the road, which is the only challenge.

We enjoyed our stay at Icelandic Apartments. The facilities were clean and the kitchen was fairly well equipped. Iceland is a very unique place for tourists to visit, especially because it is located near the Arctic Circle. It features strange desolate landscapes but has a nice mild climate.
Flights to Iceland
Keflavic International Airport (KEF) is the island's main international airport situated about 25 miles away from Reykjavik. Since flights to Iceland can be quite long after landing on the airport, it is best to bring some form of entertainment like a book or a game console. If you take Iceland flights coming from outside Switzerland or the EEA, be prepared for a security check. Make sure that your visas are in order. Thankfully, there is a duty-free store at the baggage claim area where visitors can buy whatever products they need. To get to Reykjavik, you can take a FlyBus. Taxi cabs from KEF can be quite expensive but the ride through these lands is made much more.
Iceland Weather
Booking flights to Iceland can be very confusing because the name of the country doesn't describe its mild climate. This weather can turn into biting wind or heavy rain. It is dry in between the months of May to July. During these times, the coastal sand deltas and the interior deserts can exhibit fierce blizzards and sandstorms. The best time to book flights to Iceland is from July to August when the snow starts to fade. During the rest of the year, many tourist destinations and facilities outside of Reykjavik close due to the harsh weather conditions.
Getting Around Iceland
The use of aircraft as a means of travel is as common in Iceland as buses and trains in other famous tourist destinations. Be careful of bumpy rides though, especially in the fjords. If you want to travel Reykjavik in a more convenient manner, there are hundreds of cars for hire offered by numerous agencies. Traffic in the area can be quite heavy though, but you can use a bike as a cheap alternative. Rather than buying bicycle or lugging one on your Iceland flight, rent one from the many rental establishments in the city. In addition, since the place is cold most of the time, it is best to walk from one destination to another. It will keep your body warm in winter.
Iceland Attractions
Discount Iceland flights are worth the money because the country offers stunning scenery and fantastic nature experiences. Here are 5 of the best destinations in the area:
- Gulfoss: two-tier waterfalls beautifully half-frozen in the winter
- The Blue Lagoon: geothermal tourist attraction which acts as a natural spa center
- Geysir Hot Springs: in Bjarnafell just 90 minutes from Reykjavik, filled with geysers blowing hot water high into the air
- Landmannalaugar: volcanic highlands in the southeast of Iceland filled with hot springs, perfect for camping and picnics
- Vatnajokull National Park: the park is filled with nature's wonders including waterfalls, long canyons, and icecaps
