The owner was helpful and welcoming. He happened to be in town and stopped by to introduce himself and answer questions. He offered to cut the grass, which we accepted as we planned to walk around the large property looking for birds. He has an automatic corn feeder for the deer, and birds, which shoots out feed at 5:30pm. A small family of deer come running just before it goes off. Then the birds that can eat corn show up. The highlight was a Scaled Quail. We saw a number of migratory birds in his trees and in the neighborhood. We would stay here again just for the good birding and proximity to parks and sanctuaries. Del Rio has grown over the years and has everything you could need. The property is about 15 minutes away and in a quiet area near the lake which you can see in the distance. The home is well-appointed, beds comfortable, air conditioned, and great views of wildlife from the kitchen, dining and living rooms. We highly recommend staying here!
