Sanctuary in the woods

We really enjoyed our stay. Great house and a beautiful location. Communication with the owner was nice and easy. The location is convenient for every thing you want to do in the Black Hills. I would highly recommend a stay here !

We had a great time. Lots to do in the area, comfortable quiet home to end the day at, and the hot tub was the cherry on top.

Family trip.

Very clean and plenty to keep everyone occupied during down time. The family (7 adults and 3 kids) really enjoyed the hot tub and the campfire after days of hiking and sightseeing.

Perfect spot for black hills spring break trip

This was the perfect spot for our spring break trip to black hills. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was used every night! Literally the only negative was the obscene amount of pillows they had on the couches!! Seriously though we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Awesome Family Reunion Home

A beautifully furnished home with lots of room for our extended family (9 people, 3 generations) to stay for a week long vacation. It's a lovely private lot just outside of Custer, we saw plenty of wildlife. The house was very clean, well stocked with necessities and had everything we needed for preparing meals, relaxing and keeping the kids happy in the game room.

Great retreat

Great house in a great location in the hills. Even though there are some houses near you cannot see any of them from the house so is real private. Had everything we needed plus many extra's and lots to do on those rainy days or after getting back from the day in the Black Hills. The downstairs Gameroom area was great for the kids while the adults relaxed upstairs. Hope to stay again.

Perfect place to stay and so neat and tidy!

We could not have picked a better location! We had a total of two families and kids ages 13 to 16. The basement was the perfect place for the kids to hang! Every square inch of the property was well thought out and super clean! The owners were very friendly and communicated well. We would definitely stay here again, if we come back to the South Dakota area!

Stayed for a week in May 2025. Lovely house and location. House was well supplied with the little things, such as dish soap, trash bags, coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, etc., so it was nice not to need to buy such basics at the local grocery store. House was very clean and comfortable. Location is in a forested area a few miles outside the small city of Custer, centrally located near all the major attractions in the Black Hills area. Plenty of good choices in Custer for dinner each evening added to the overall good experience staying here.

The property was great and a perfect distance to everything. Very quiet neighborhood. The hot tub was very clean. The grill is charcoal and not gas so grilling was inconvenient. This is for the owners not a criticism, we wish the pull out coach was in the game room not the livingroom. The game room has a bedroom and bathroom attached to it and with children it would have been great to have them in a room with the parents.

Gorgeous Hills Getaway

We loved staying here! It's a big place with rooms in different areas, a TON of fun games, a very nice hot tub, and a fire pit with a grate for fire-roasting. Fully stocked with kitchen utensils and plenty of spices for cooking. There is a TV in almost every room. There were hardly any mosquitos outside, and the place was close to Custer (about a 10 min drive) and a lot of the sights in the area. We saw deer multiple times on the land surrounding the house - just a lovely spot! There is no AC, but we were there during a hot week and if you follow the recommendations of the owners (open windows at night and shut windows and shades during the day), you'll be comfortable! We had a great time and highly recommend this spot for a family or group of friends.
