So when we started to design the renovations of the Church Tower, we brought all that past experience to bear, to create one of the most unique self-catering properties in Scotland. If you have a keen eye for design and absolutely obsessed with detail and cleanliness (like we are!), then The Church Tower perfect place for you to stay 🙂

WHAT TO DO IN THE CRIEFF AREA
Guests always ask what is the area like, so I created my Top 10 things to do in the Crieff area, If you manage to tick off these you will be guaranteed to have a wonderful time and want to come back again. So here we go....
PLACES TO EAT Here are some lovely restaurants that we would recommend for lunch or dinner:
Glenturret Distillery – a short walk from the Church Tower along the river – it is the only Distillery in the world that has a Michelin star restaurant, they are open Weds to Sunday for dinner and lunch, might be tough to get a table at this stage, but a tour of the distillery and visit to the shop is well worth it Gleneagles Hotel – iconic Scottish hotel (15 mins drive) www.gleneagles.com – lovely bar for cocktails and would recommend the Strathearn Restaurant for dinner. World famous golf course, if you are into golf. Delivino’s – 5 min walk from The Church Tower, in Crieff town square – lovely spot for lunch or dinner Grandtully Hotel (45mins) near Aberfeldy, lovely for lunch or dinner, after a long walk Taybank in Dunkeld – see below
THINGS TO DO Things to do in the area (can be done over a few days)
Drive from Crieff to Aberfeldy and stop off at the Watermill Bookshop & Cafe in Aberfeldy (in the town, just off the main street) – it was voted once as one of Top 75 Bookstores in the world, really nice collection of books. Check out the Gallery space upstairs, say hello to Zanna! downstairs there is an excellent spot for lunch (you will need to book to get a table or just wait – great daily vegetarian specials Stop for a coffee at the Cow & Parrot just at the traffic lights at Aberfeldy – superb coffee ! say hi to Jamie & Nicola – lovely couple you own and operate it From Aberfeldy continue towards Kenmore (wee village on the edge of Loch Tay), stop off at the Scottish Crannog Centre (might need to book in advance) and learn what life was like living on Loch Tay in the bronze Age – really interesting and well worth a visit Stop for a pizza & beer at The Fisherman at the Marina Continue the drive to Killin and enjoy the views of the Loch From Killin continue to St Fillians, Cormie and back to Crieff. In Comrie stop off at the old Royal Hotel, nice for a drink If you like downhill mountain biking, stop off at Comrie Croft, halfway between Crieff and Comrie – nice place for lunch as well
Make sure you visit Dunkeld, lovely ancient village on the River Tay, about 30 mins from Crieff. Definitely book dinner at the Taybank (upstairs in the restaurant) or lunch downstairs in the bar is excellent (one of our favourites), go on a Wednesday or Thursday for live traditional music in the bar. All their produce is organic and grown in the castle wall garden. They have a lovely beer garden beside the River. There is a fabulous bakey in Dunkeld, just on the road street – good to pick up some bread there Rent some bikes and a guide from Progession Bikes in Dunkeld, speak to Adam owner and ask for a guide to take you up on the trails for a day or halfday When you are visiting Dunkeld, stop off for a walk at the Hermitage – ancient forest area along the River Tay There is a great company called Beyond Adventure in Aberfeldy, speak to Julie or Ross (the owner), they can organise half day or full day adventures – canoeing on Loch Faskally and cliff jumping is a favourite, canoeing along River Tay, full day guide hike into the hills
