Great location, basic house
Our family of 5 stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed ourselves. Close to the spectacular beach, to Coupeville, and to the ferry to Port Townsend. Overall, though, we have a mixed review. House itself is cute but worn. The carpet is old, stained, and torn in places. Some of the beds are comfortable and the other furniture is comfie too. The kitchen is well-equipped and clean. The spiral staircase is somewhat treacherous. We found the yard overgrown, messy, and hard to use. The neighbor kept us awake all night with his yard work, lawn mowing, and other noises. The lake is overgrown with algae, so we were reluctant to take the kayaks out. We didn't use the pool. The downstairs is basically a daylight basement (dark and cold). It was fine but not great. We made the best of it, but it could use some attention.

Old house in need of work, in a lovely location
The location is great. The house itself could use some maintenance and upgrades. And pretty standard things were missing. No dishwasher or kettle in the kitchen. No cling wrap or tin foil (although management did kindly provide some on request). Cracked wine glasses (also replaced). Broken cork screw. Gaming machine not working.

Great Weekend Getaway
Very easy to get settled in: clean, comfortable bed, cozy couch, great kitchen supplies/appliances, location, etc. We definitely did not use all the amenities provided during our short weekend getaway. A couple of things to note (not necessarily deal breakers) The kitchen is upstairs and as cool as the spiral staircase is, the novelty wore off pretty quickly when trying to bring anything up or down the stairs (there is a staircase outside- but it was raining off and on our entire stay). Dogs are only allowed on the first floor (totally ok with rule) just that it was difficult for us to enjoy the upstairs (cooking/family dinner) with him crying every time one or all of us went upstairs to eat (not a normal thing for our typically chill dog- but if you know yours get seperation anxiety you may need to consider this rule). For us, we didn't enjoy the bright lively upstairs as much as I would have liked. The downstairs was our home away from home though, and easy access to the lake and ocean beach made daily walks very enjoyable. Overall a great experience.

Rustic charm
Needed a quiet place to relax for the week. Cute decor. Comfortable furnishings. Lots of little extras. If I had a family, this would be a great place to bring them. It was an unusually cold week and the house struggled to keep up but there were plenty of blankets available.

Nice, relaxing stay
This was a great little vacation for our family. The property was clean and easy to find. My only complaints would be that the kitchen is upstairs so it was a little difficult to get groceries up- however, there is a staircase on the side of the deck which greatly improved things than trying to go up those windy stairs inside. Second, it would be nice for there to be a tv upstairs so that parents can watch a movie after kids go to bed. Other than that, it was great to be so close to the beach, with the lake on the back side and access to the community outdoor pool was fantastic. We had a nice, relaxing stay and would definitely recommend.

The property was quant and charming with plenty of amenities. The view of the ocean was nice and the house was light and bright. It’s on the older side so the light switches and their locations took a bit of getting used to. Overall a good place to stay.

Nice but Noisy
Stayed here for a job we had over in Coupeville. The place was nice and accommodations were great. It should be known though, that it is directly in the flight path of the training pilots. Was very cool for awhile to watch but the noise was fairly constant until around 9 pm most nights. So loud it shook the house at times

Great spot for an island break!
Lovely smaller house and property just right for my daughter and me to have a little break and enjoy some adventures on Whidbey Island.
The small spiral stairs inside the house would be difficult for some folks to navigate ... didn't recall anything mentioned about that during booking.
The location was very beautiful - and very windy!

Great Little Beach Getaway!
Fun place to stay with teens. They can take the downstairs and adults can take the upstairs. People with mobility concerns will want to know there is a spiral staircase that can be challenging to manage if you have mobility concerns. The pizza provided by Avanstay was a nice touch!

Will be saving the link to this property, absolutely will rent again. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet getaway that is still close to towns and restaurants on the island.

Memorial Day weekend
Our family really enjoyed our stay. The downstairs area was a perfect hang out for kids with a tv, arcade game, and lots of board games. We enjoyed the fire pit and kayaks. The location on the lake but across from the beach was perfect and we were pleasantly surprised to be so close to Fort Casey and the Port Townsend ferry terminal. A lighter for the fire pit would be great to keep in the house as well as a tissue box.

Fun for kids!
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at this cute little house for the weekend. The listing was accurate and the amenities were plentiful. My daughter commented that the house was a cozy blanket heaven with soft cozy blankets in every closet! I only wish there would’ve been a dishwasher, but that’s a small complaint. My children (9 and 11) also absolutely loved the retro arcade system downstairs. The spiral staircase was definitely a fun novelty, but if you have small kiddos it might be a little nerve wracking since it’s tight and very open to the level below.
I personally loved the fact that there were no electronics upstairs (besides the Alexa). It made it easy to enjoy the fireplace with a good book while my husband and kids played video games and watched TV downstairs. Since we visited in February, the weather was the typical rainy and cold Washington weather, but we still very much enjoyed the private beach. It was a very short walk and had tons of logs and stumps for the kids to climb and explore. If the weather allowed I’m sure we would have used the kayaks in the backyard lake. We would definitely stay here again!

Late Fall Staycation
We decided to stay close by while our home was being remolded and wanted to experience what the lake people enjoy daily. While the property is super prime for the warmer months, we found it indoors cozy for the fall cooler rainy weather conditions. It has better sound resistant against the jets then we thought it would be, a big plus. There are multiple of things to do, a large gaming standalone council, cable TV, lots of board games and a well stocked kitchen with utensils and cook ware. Heat sources are sparce but well positioned and quiet considering the size of the cabin/house. The spiral staircase is very narrow for us but the outside staircase is good size. A couple of minor issues but nothing important enough to mention and I'm sure they were fixed pronto. Recommended.

Fits the definition well of “beach cabin" but beware the “sign yet another contract” practice
The beach cabin at 90 Keystone Ave is well-appointed, cute, and fits the definition well of “beach cabin.” It’s just a few short steps to the beach and is effectively surrounded by water with a pond in the back and Admiralty Inlet on the other side of the street. We especially appreciated the views from the upstairs living room, well stocked kitchen with brand new pots, and comfort of the TV room and couches downstairs. There’s also a video-game console loaded with a number of vintage games which was a hit.
The small cabin needs a good end-of-peak-season cleaning to remove some stains on the carpet and furniture, and it feels cluttered in parts with knickknacks and an excess of furniture. There are a handful of battery-operated lights throughout the cabin, including an important one on the tricky spiral staircase that were all inoperable. We looked but didn’t see batteries to replace all of the depleted ones and we did a little cleaning at the end of our stay to help out. Again, most of these issues are likely because the cabin is in need of its end-of-season deep clean and service. -1 star.
One unpleasant experience is that after we agreed to the contracts in VBRO, paid 100% of our fees, and confirmed our reservation through VBRO, we were then unexpectedly contacted by a third-party property management firm and asked to sign yet ANOTHER contract that had new terms and provisions. This left a sour taste in our months, but a lawyer in our group explained that the additional contract was completely unenforceable since there was no additional “consideration” and we had already confirmed our reservation, agreed to the original terms and conditions on VBRO, and paid. -1 star for that experience which needs to be ended.
With a good cleaning and an end to the ridiculous “sign yet another contract” practice after you’ve booked and paid, this would be a cute 5-star cabin. It would be a beautiful property in the summer months, with a firepit and huge deck in the front.
