Our off-grid Cottage generates all of its own power from a novel microhydro system which is thoroughly environmentally-friendly. While relaxing off the grid, you can still choose to stay in touch with work or friends thanks to our high-speed fiber-optic 100 MPS internet with Wi-Fi throughout the Cottage.

Features: Two full bedrooms upstairs, one queen, one king; private bedroom on lower level next to family room, which has a large TV; queen futon in family room space. Radiant in-floor heat; Vermont Castings woodstove provides nice fireplace - plenty of wood furnished; hiking and XC trails abound in beautiful sugar maple forest. Three baths: one with tub and one with shower, one powder room. Washer and dryer. Visit the micro-hydro to see this novel renewable energy system. Beautiful wrap-around deck with sun chairs and Weber grill.

Property has perennial flower and vegetable gardens visited by birds and pollinators. Small pond next to the house hosts spring peepers, ducks, and other wildlife. Set on our private road, you can enjoy complete privacy where birdsong is the only sound.

The long winding driveway through the forest opens to a park-like landscaped vista. Every flower garden, and they are everywhere you look, was in full bloom. Song Sparrow Cottage has a fairytale, idyllic setting. The cottage itself is nothing short of spectacular in its construction and attention to detail. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with everything. One could never tell that this is an "off grid" property. James and Michele were a pleasure to work with.

The Perfect Hideaway

I went to Song Sparrow Cottage to work on a novel. I left with a few good chapters in my laptop and the lingering sense of a place that is gloriously away from the maddening crowd. I am infused with the stillness of the early mornings and evenings, the songs of the sparrows, finches and doves, the kaleidoscope of colors in the flower gardens where monarchs, swallowtails and hummingbirds dance, the tamed and untamed meadows, and the pools of sunlight on the forest floor. I am rested, too; the cottage, with its many wood accents and rustic décor, is a perfect setting for renewal. This is not a tourist destination. It is a place where one can walk or ski a woodland trail, have a drink by the fire of a wood stove, sit on the porch and take in the rolling peaks and valleys and gentle blue sky, or make a meal in the fully appointed kitchen. Song Sparrow Cottage may seem like it’s not very close to anywhere but its right down a country road to heaven.

Beautiful setting. Beautiful house.

House is beautiful. Grounds are beautiful. The flower gardens are absolutely breathtaking. The weather during our stay was in the middle 90’s so not having ac was a little hard. The only TV was in the family room that was located in the basement( lower level ) so was not really convenient having 2 children. Otherwise than being unseasonably hot. We had a tremendous vacation.
