This house was perfect for our family gathering for a wedding in near-by Westmoreland State Park. The house was very clean and spacious. We used all six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It easily accommodated informal family gatherings after events in the park. The playground right next door also proved very handy for younger family members. The host was always very responsive, making it easy for us to focus on our family reunion and wedding.

Gorgeous house - updated beautifully but kept the historic charm. Decorated wonderfully. Our family and friends enjoyed every minute of our stay. The backyard with firepit, along with all of the bikes, cornhole, chairs, games, etc made it a perfect spot for our mini family get together. Location is ideal. I highly recommend the Lyellton and will be back!!

Colonial Beach Charmer

Wow! What a location and what a house! This place has everything you need for a relaxing time in CB. We were even able to bring our dogs and they had the best time as well. The home is huge and great for any configuration of friends or family and in walking distance to great restaurants and the beach. The hosts were super easy to work with and genuinely wanted to ensure that we were comfortable and had what we needed. Don't miss this one!

Great house in an ideal location. Walking distance to most everything you would want to do in town. The owners are easy to contact if needed and very accommodating. Obviously, we had a wonderful time!

Best Vacation in Town!

From beginning to end - absolutely perfect! Property owner was the best! Extremely helpful & organized! The property was amazing and worked just great for our Family - Adults and children. College reunion

Our group consisted of six women who Attended JMU together back in the 70s. Everybody enjoyed the house tremendously. They felt it was a perfect venue for our get together. The only things we felt were lacking were towel racks in the bathrooms And little bars of soap for bathing. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

A Fantastic Family Vacation

We had a wonderful multi family vacation at Lyellton House! The house was gorgeous, with beautiful details. The layout was perfect for our range of ages to accommodate naps, older kids getting downtime, and adults staying up late. THE LOCATION! Next to a giant community playground across the street from an ice cream shop and a block from the beach?!? Unbeatable. We hope to return!

Same time, next year

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Lyellton house and it met all of our needs- 3 families with kids between the ages of 7-16. The house was spacious, clean, and very well decorated with thoughtful touches all around the house (towels! s’mores, sheets, toiletries!). We enjoyed relaxing in the house on our one rainy day. It was also in walking distance to the riverside beach, ice cream, kids park, restaurants, etc. so very convenient. The owners were very communicative and responsive to our needs, we appreciated that. We would definitely stay here again and enjoyed getting to explore the cute town of Colonial Beach.

Perfect home for a family vacation!

We had a family vacation and this home was absolutely perfect for the group (12 people (9 adults, 3 kids)) stay for a long weekend. There was plenty of space for the group to gather together between the large family room/kitchen space and backyard. In addition, it is located right across the street from an jce cream shop- which was truly the cherry on top. Highly recommend this home for your family/friends getaway!

Beautiful home!

The home has been beautifully renovated and was very clean. It’s walking distance from shops and restaurants, which would be even more fun closer to the summer season when more businesses are open. It was so nice for everyone in our group to have our own room and we loved having two sitting areas to use.
