Staff are amazing! They can’t do enough for you. The whole building looks like its in the process of renovation, but still a lot to do. Beds are very comfortable, bathrooms are very modern and fresh. Overall decor good, but peeling wall paper, some damp spots need work. Food was very nice. Very peaceful area.

The staff are doing their best in a building that is falling into a neglected state. The place looks shabby and there is bad damp showing inside in bathrooms and on walls. It doesn't look anything like the photos of how it used to be. Its obvious there is no maintenance of the building inside or outside and no one seems to be in charge of the accomodation side of things . Locks didn't work, tv didn't work , no hairdrier , tv smashed in the breakfast room , cereals all out of date etc... No way would this place pass an hotel inspection.

On arrival we were first told the chef had walked out and we wouldn’t get any meals! Then Emily and Janice stepped in and did evening service and a meal, then Janice came back and did breakfast in the morning. Overall a very surreal experience which was just ok in the end. I imagine most people would have complained and asked for a refund!

A clean and welcoming local hotel. Good facilities. Great value for money. We loved the cooked breakfast. Would def think of staying again. Quiet surroundings. Good facilities. Places to sit, enjoy the bar. We had a sofa in our room to relax.

Really bad

Do not believe the photographs on hotels.com. The place is very run down and nothing like pictured. The furniture was filthy and had paint peeling, tiles were hanging off the wall in the shower, and the shower itself dispensed only ice cold water.

Just ok

Location is not very central if you are staying to visit lake district. Breakfast was good. We reached late around 10.30 pm. It was good that l called the hotel beforehand. They told us no staff is available at the hotel after 8 pm but they left our keys at the reception. We had 2 rooms. Door handle for one room was broken and it will not open. Tried to contact the emergency no. written at reception but no reply. We struggled with key and door and managed to open door after 30 mins. We were not offered room cleaning. I asked on 2nd day and room was cleaned but bed linens were not changed. And used bath mats were removed and not replaced.
