Lovely hotel

3rd time of staying at the county hotel. It is very clean although a bit tired & rooms could do with an uplift. Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly, very central. Will be booking again.

Absolutely loved the County Hotel! Everything I needed and staff went out of their way to help. Beautiful room. Lift was really great because im disabled and find stairs difficult. Hotel was beautiful in it’s day. Most of the rooms have not been renovated for quite some time. The bathroom had peeling paint, mold and very old fixtures. The windows, carpeting and furniture were very old and worn. We were told 7 rooms were renovated and the one we saw was an improvement. The lobby and common areas still pretty cool to look at although the glass in the entry door was broken and boarded up. The breakfast was pretty good. The lady at the desk at night (Niko) was very nice and accommodating.

A half panel on the shower made it impossible to start without getting wet before the water temperature was adjusted, yet it didn't shield the bathroom from getting soaked while the shower was on. The windows were old and didn't insulate from the noisy street party outside, which went on until 3 in the morning.

Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Family room was spacious and excellently cleaned. For the price it was very reasonable. 2 minutes to railway station , and bars and eating houses. An excellent location for all amenities. Take into consideration that this building is very old but kept to good standard . Loads and loads of towels for one night stay. If in Carlisle again I would definitely stay here everything you need on the doorstep
