Check what you are offered is what you get.

Although advertised as free parking it was only after I booked that I received an email advising that it was on a first come basis. As a result I had to use paid parking. Room was in need of renovation. Sink didn’t drain. Very good breakfast made up for other things.

convenient in central Carlisle

We were impressed by the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff, Dale in particular, who helped us change rooms from frankly a dingy non-soundproofed room to a much nicer room a floor higher, overlooking the street. Traffic noise did not bother us and we slept well. The building itself needs a fortune spent on maintenance and the furnishings need replacing/updating. This once lovely Victorian hotel is not just tired, it is exhausted. If you need a hotel in central Carlisle and are not upset by delapidation and tatty furniture, give the County Hotel a try.

It is easily accessible I'm disabled and in a wheelchair but everything is accessible. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I enjoy the shopping areas of Carlisle and its so easily from the hotel.

It is shabby and had seen better days (probably about the same time as the Bay City Rollers were in their prime ) , but for a sleep it was fine for the price . I arrived at 10pm and left at 530am so what more did I need ?

Great stay with a dog

This is a great hotel to stay with a dog. We could even have breakfast the the bar with dog. There is a small park/square a couple of streets away - 4 mins.( depending on speed) The staff are very friendly and the position is nice and central. Rob

Room stank of stale tobacco, dirty, stained carpets, stained chair, stained and broken lamp, even the tv remote was broken. iron shaped burns on carpet, dirt build up in areas on shower toilet not fitting wall, reception smelled, generally needs a refurb.

Quite satisfied

Friendly staff in a city centre hotel. It was clean, good breakfast. I was happy with the room. The car park was right behind the hotel and took me a while to find it amongst other private car parks. The wifi was a touch tempermental at times.

Dirty, uncomfortable, cold (no choice to put heating on) tv didn’t work. Shower didn’t work properly. Wouldn’t stay here again. Cheap enough but you literally pay for a dirty mattress and a tea towel for a pillow.

Great location, central to the lively city centre and on the doorstep of the railway station. Although there's a busy night-time economy all around the hotel, we didn't experience and noise disturbance.

I regret staying at this hotel. The stairs are carpeted and in need of a wash and vacuum.Floors are uneven so wearing heels is a hazard here. The double room had wall paper peeling off, the carpet was dirty, windows rusty and the bathrooms ceiling was flaking off in chunks and mouldy wood.

Lovely night away

Great! Stayed for 1 night with a friend as we were in the city for a gig - central location, great for shops, restaurants, train. No complaints. Bathroom was clean. Bed was comfy. Tea and coffee in the room for morning.
