Wish we had days to spend at Sarayi/Palm Cove

Both of us wished we'd spent longer at this lovely little hotel on one of Australia's sweetest little beaches. We actually ended up changing the last day of our trip to spend more time in the area, and Sarayi's reception allowed us to leave our luggage after our check-out time. The room was comfortable and nice, if basic, with a TV, coffee and tea, a nicely stocked restroom, and extra blankets. Compared to the many other hotel rooms we had in Australia and Queensland, we found it outstanding and of good value. The pool was only medium sized, but since it was on the roof it gave a great view of both the beach and the hills surrounding Palm Cove. The reception staff was amazingly kind. As a heads-up, we got an e-mail the day before we arrived asking for details, and I strongly recommend that if you stay here you read and respond to anything they send, since they'll tell you the hours reception is staffed, or how to get in and pick up your key if it's after-hours.

Keep looking, there are better places near by

well, to start off, the reception or registration office closes at 6, yes, they have a safe, but i don't like this. we arrived at 5:30 and we given a room with open windows, and NO screens, so it was full of mosquitoes. they turned on the ac and it didn't do much, but we went to dinner, thinking it would come on so we could get away from the mosquitoes, but the key to the room turns on the electricity. we came back from dinner and tried to cool the room, still full of mosquitoes. i had to call the staff back, switch to a different room where the ac worked, but was in the main lobby of the bar/restaurant. there are much better places to stay in palm cove, move on to another one. the lady in reception was fine, she should not have to try and make customers accept poor conditions.

Gem on the Waterfront

Sarayi is a small boutique hotel right in the middle of the Palm Cove "strip" - excellent location and even better service. The manager, John, is absolutely amazing. Due to inclement weather, my plans for a reef dive were cancelled, and John helped me book another tour for the day. He also recommended an excellent new service that provides transportation to Cairns for the evening and access to various bards, clubs, and other entertainment. Very appreciate for all of his assistance and service.

Great location, very good value

We ended up at Sarayi when our flights were changed by the airlines, and we needed two additional nights in the Cairns/Port Douglas area. The manager was really helpful in general, and gained our devotion when he upgraded us to a corner room with a balcony. Heaven! The hotel does have its quirks, but the facilities were quite fine. We used the kitchen for breakfast toast and for a salad at lunch. Worst part was no elevator. Since we travel light, it wasn't much of a problem, but if you cart around your life, you won't be happy with this journey. Parking in front was easy every time we came back from an activity. Easy travel to Cairns or Port Douglas/Daintree. Very good value; moderate prices (for the PD area!). Excellent lattes at the cart in front of the building, and sitting on the balcony looking out at and hearing the ocean - Yippee!.

Relaxing

I stayed four nights at Sarayi and would recommend it. It's right across from the beach, and the staff could not have been nicer. The facilities were simple but very clean. It was nice to have a table and counter top, but there isn't a kitchen. Palm Cove, however, is smaller than I had expected and expensive. Sarayi would be perfect for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend, but families might want someplace with a kitchen and a bigger pool.

Great location, but hotel is lacking.

We stayed in one of the ground level back rooms. There is no view, and you have to keep all drapes closed anyway since anybody could look in on you. We sort of felt like we were in a prison since we didn't have any natural light coming in. It's not a comfy room considering the tiled floor and lack of furniture. We stayed four nights and didn't get any housekeeping services (maybe that's typical?). Since it rained a lot, our floor got pretty dirty, so the housekeeper came and mopped it upon my request. Also, we had to ask for more linens since ours never really dried between showers. Speaking of showers, the hot water was unreliable. Speaking of unreliable, so was the free wifi. The best part of the hotel is the staff. Hayley, in particular, was great -- helping with booking tours, giving recommendations, etc. And they did provide umbrellas to us for the rain. The complimentary airport transportation service was also very nice.

Location great. Beds comfy. On arrival no advice on room eg milk in fridge. Empty water bottle in fridge. No bin in toilets. No water tumblers. Rooms very plain no lounge chair in room. Mo compendium for information. Room does not look 4 starand very unlike websire photos. Pool was clean but all deserted no shade or shelter around pool. Undergoing renovations to one area which should be divulged on booking. No on sight restaurant as advertised. Total waste of money for the amiunt i paid.
