Great Get Away Home

Small and quaint with little nooks and hideaways. Close to Blowing Rock - 5 minute drive. We went to Winterfest and it was perfect for a short trip.

Nice stay

The cottage was nice. I loved the bottom rooms with each having their own bathroom and a shared shower. Beds were very comfortable. I would suggest putting fireplace instructions in the notebook, steps for the high beds as short and elderly have a hard time getting in and out, an additional step coming out of the house as it’s a BIG step down. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

App State game

We stayed at Sky Laurel for the App State vs JMU game. The cottage was super clean and comfy. It was easy to get to which was nice because of the icy conditions. It’s also very close to downtown Blowing Rock and a short drive or Uber to Boone. We would definitely stay again.

Half way between Fla and Oh

We had and awesome time with our family at the cottage. We loved sitting on the porch and visiting, and going to nearby places of interest. The musty smell was a little overwhelming so we slept with the windows opened. The kitchen was smaller than expected so only one person could prep meals and cook. Overall, it was a very nice cozy comfortable place to stay.

Family friends had great stay!

Nice location very close to Main St, Blowing Rock. 4 couples had a good time…One couple on the pullout sofa bed, but the rest on nice king or queen beds. Small kitchen, but we weren’t there to cook. Showers worked well with good pressure and hot water. TV’s everywhere. Good stay on a blustery weekend!

Fall visit

The location of the house is convenient to downtown Blowing Rock. The house had all the amenities we needed The layout of the house worked well for our family. The only distraction is the road noise from hiway 321 if you want to sit outside. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this house.

Cozy cabin, great location, we’ll be back!

We enjoyed our stay very much! The cabin so so cozy and cute. It was clean and in a great location, close to everything, and communication with rental co was fast and easy. We will definitely be back. The only thing I would recommend is to get the sliding glass door lock fixed- the lock doesn’t work, there is only a wooden bar to put in the track. Otherwise it was great!!

Just ok

Even though I was hesitant to rent this house I saw that this property had all 5 stars so I took a chance. It was not a 5 star property. The kitchen was not usable it was so tiny, the decor and furniture was mediocre and was not comfortable. No view, road noise. Positives: Good location, clean, everything in good working and comfortable beds. When we arrived the code to the door did not work for us so we had to sit out in the cold at night in our cars until we received a return phone call. That took 30 minutes to hear back from the rental company - not a good start to our trip.

Cabin in blowing rock

Location was excellent and very cute. Den was nice and pretty decor in the cabin. Nice rocking chairs on the front porch and great patio table and chairs area. We did have trouble opening the front door when we arrived , the code didn’t work as told and had to make multiple phone calls to get reset. Finally did get in and no further issues. Basement had a little closed in smell but was clean and beautifully decorated. Parking was tight but good for our one car. We would recommend this cabin for convenience and privacy but not if you have a big truck or vehicle that needs turning around or if you have multiple vehicles with your party . We did enjoy and would return for more memories! Communication was perfect with emails and preparation.

Great Little Getaway

Traffic noise is LOUD!

Not our best VRBO pick. Three big complaints and some minor ones. If you plan on enjoying the outdoor space, be prepared that you are right on the highway, so you will hear the constant hum of traffic whizzing by at 50 mph. This was our biggest issue. The kitchen is miniscule and you can't fully open the refrigerator. The shower in what we assume is the master bath is the size of a postage stamp. Only larger shower is in the basement. Cabinets (bathroom and kitchen) are all original and just painted over. Many don't stay closed. Not a standard size dishwasher and it doesn't fit the plates they provide so plan on handwashing your dishes. If you think you will walk to town, you won't unless you want to cross the 5 lane highway. Positives: neighbors were very friendly. Beds were comfortable. Water pressure was good. Landscaping was well maintained. Location is convenient, just not walkable to anything. Note, only parking for 2 cars. Not a problem for us, but something to note since there isn't really street parking. We also were pretty upset with the management company. When we called to complain about the traffic noise, we spoke with Ci^%# (name omitted for her privacy). She led us to believe that we could switch to another of their properties, which happily surprised us. We spent time perusing the other options, and then we got an email recanting what she said. Telling us that we could switch but we would have to pay for both unless they were able to get a last minute rental of where we were staying... which let's face it, is unlikely. Everyone was super empathetic and nice from the management company, but a direct "I'm sorry you are disappointed" would have been better than getting our hopes up to think we had options.

Good Location, nice quiet neighborhood

The majority of the house was spacious except for the kitchen, which was a bit small, a one-person kitchen. Not much counter space for preparing a meal. I was cooking bacon in the oven and the smoke alarm went off. Could use some Pyrex for baking and a new can opener. The location was perfect for a base camp. The children loved the park in Blowing Rock. Beds were comfortable. The door code that we were given did not work and it took three calls to get another code. Enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch. Instructions on how to operate the TV would have been handy. The trash can is labeled "recycle", but there is no recycling.

Cute rustic house

This house was exactly what we we were looking for. The only thing I would say is it is not a mile from town if you want to walk it. Not a bad walk but you have to go over the main hwy rd. One other thing I would say they need a hair drier I forgot mine so couldn’t dry my hair. The street is Very quiet and plenty of space for us. Lower level is large if you come with 2 other couples. Overall I would rent this place again!!
