Ideal location outside the city centre with excellent transport links into Bologna and beyond; we did day trips to Rimini, San Marino and Venice with this hotel as a base covering Bologna in the evening. Don’t miss the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca: get the train from the main square! Staff at the hotel were superb and very helpful.

Negatives: the aircon in the rooms does not work. Though you feel it blowing out cold air, its not effective and we found it difficult to sleep as we were so got we had to use our own plug in fan. We were moved rooms two times after we found ant nests in the bathrooms. (This is common in italian establishments as they seek refuge in buildings to find water sources). The decor is basic, a tad outdated, smidhedbin waalls from previous guests, but otherwise a nice place to be. The balcony woth our room was pretty to look at, but as soon as you step on to it, you turn into a 4* meal buffet for all the bugs living out there. I spent two weeks in holiday travelling through europe and we didnt get a single bug problem or mosquito bite till coming here. The whole hotel grounds are covered in them. Positives: The staff are fantastic. Good English, polite, patient and courteous. Special thanks to the breakfast waiting staff who offer a friendly face in the morning. Breakfast had quite a lot on offer. A mix of vegetarian, cereal, breads, cakes and meats. The pool is nice, a little small, bar drinks and snacks available to buy. Two well maintained hot tubs (though mouldy around the edges)

Lousy hotel !

I paid 460 Euros for one night and got a room that like all others had no air condition functioning but instead the heating was on and impossible to control. Therfor the room was suffocating. I was proposed by reception to sleep with the balcony door open (as there is no window in the room)which was unacceptable due to safety reasons. I was told there was no menager on site to complain to and that i will be able to do it in the morning. Again in the check out process the day after he avoided me and the stuff asked me to send him an email. In overall this hotel is not worth the money and far from deservung its 4 stars (not even a kettle in the room for which you need to pay 5 euro extra !

The properly had a swimming pool and jacuzzi where we spent most of our stay due to the heat in Bologna. Well connected with the city centre - bus stop a few metres away from the hotel

Checkin went well and the room was adequate. The pool was clean and in good condition, however the food and drinks were not good. Dinner was awful, the service was slow and poor even though there was only 5-10 tables that night. It took an age to be offered drinks and than even longer to be served them, so much so our starters arrived before the drinks. The food was so bad, my steak had 0 flavour, 0 seasoning and was so bland. No air con between the rooms and reception make for a very uncomfortable walk between the two The aircon in room stopped before heading to bed, and it was gone midnight till it was sorted and we could sleep. Until then we had to use ice packs to keep cool. Overall this was a very disappointing stay and i would not recommend to my friends

We were excited to stay in this hotel but left extremely disappointed. The room is on the small side and the beds are not that great. The bathroom is small and the shower is tiny. And speaking of the shower: something is seriously wrong with their water system, as the temperature fluctuates wildly between cool to scaldingly hot (like dangerously hot!) about every 15 seconds or so and you have to try to dodge the water in a microscopic shower. There were three of us and we all showered at different times of day and it was the same for all of us. I actually think it’s quite dangerous. Also, there is nowhere in the hotel to get any drinking water without paying for it - even the gym doesn’t have a drinking fountain or water cooler. The pool area is nice, but has some major drawbacks: the “hot” tubs are about 80° tubs, so not hot at all. And there are ants and mosquitoes everywhere. I sat outside near the pool for about a half an hour and I look like I have chicken pox now and I even got a rash from them as well. If you want to go to the pool I highly suggest you bring bug spray. The highlight of the hotel was the breakfast, which had a good variety of options and was very nice, other than the burnt espresso.

We found the hotel facilities to be excellent, with pleasant rooms, swimming pool and a very good restaurant. However, we found the service to be lacking. Most hotel staff were helpful and polite, but some made us feel quite unwelcome. Also the hotel seemed more interested in finding problems than solutions when we approached them for help, after our flight home had been moved to the evening and we needed somewhere for our baby to nap for an hour that afternoon. It's unfortunate because it's an excellent hotel in many respects, but next time I think we will go back to the Savoia.

Very busy with conferences and that seemed to be focus, holiday goers were made to feel like they were a little unwelcome. Some staff were very helpful whereas others were a little abrasive and weren't particularly accomodating considering the hard earned money we paid for the trip.
