A Wonderful Vacation Home Set in the Woods with Unique Envelope Architecture

Slideaway is a unique vacation home due to its “envelope” design. It is essentially a house within a house. This design helps keep it warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Slideaway offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one ensuite) on the lower level and 2 bedrooms on the upper/ top level. A main floor bathroom serves the top-floor bedrooms, each of which includes a portable a/c.

Our office is right here in the Powderhorn area with on-site maintenance, housekeeping, and reservation staff ready to help. You’ll always have support nearby, and if you’d rather not stop in, we’re also available 24/7 by call, message, or email. Whatever works best for you, we’re here to make your stay as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Nestled in the heart of the Upper Peninsula, the Powderhorn area is a true four-season destination.
The neighborhood also offers great local spots to enjoy—grab a hearty meal at Iron Nugget, sip a coffee at Copper Cup, try out a beer at Cold Iron Brewery or try a local favorite at Pit Stop, Uptown Café, or Club 28. You’ll also find shopping, live music, and seasonal festivals nearby that bring the community to life.

In winter, you’re just steps from Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort and a few miles from Snow River for skiing and snowboarding, along with direct access to hundreds of miles of scenic snowmobile trails. When the snow melts, the adventure continues with hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, fishing, and exploring the beauty of the Northwoods.

In addition the aforementioned full bathroom, the main level also features a large kitchen and cozy open dining and living room with a gas fireplace and sofa sleeper. Patio doors open off the living room and kitchen for access to the large solarium, which is perfect for gear storage.
The main level also offers access to an elevated deck, which includes an outdoor hot tub, gas grill and seating area. WIFI is available throughout the unit. A 3-night minimum stay is required.

Great house in a very nicely wooded area. The fishing, hiking and amenities at the house were all exactly what we were looking for. Will recommend this to friends.

The property was very rustic and charming albeit quite creaky. Lots of space for larger groups. We enjoyed our stay. One thing to note is there is not air conditioning for all but the two bedrooms on the top floor. The weather was very hot and muggy when we stayed so that didn’t help. However , I would recommend in milder weather.

Winter Vacation

It's a lovely home with plenty of space. We had 10 people with us, and there was more than enough room. It's also in a great location on the ski hill. Very clean, good communication with owners, and the hot tub was great!

Slideaway retreat

What a great place to stay! Everything was fully stocked, you really don't need to bring anything with you. The place was clean and welcoming. BPLA was great! Very attentive to whatever we needed. The showerhead in the Ensuite bathroom should be changed out. Low flow waterhead at extremely high pressure equates to a water knife without much actual water.
