I stayed two weeks in Boatel Charlie, and what an amazing place that is! It is a piece of paradise surrounded by the waters of the Danube, and an immense park with designated bike paths, jogging trails, and a pedestrian walk.
Location-wise it couldn’t be better as it is between the beautiful old town of Belgrade, with its museums, shops, greats bistros , and an intense night, and Zemun, a charming city that feels like a village with a daily farmer’s market where one can find all kinds of fresh produce, and small restaurants, and shops around its plazas. Both areas are easily accessible by foot (about a 30 minute-walk) or take bus #15 or #84 which will take you to either areas in less than ten minutes. (Bus stop is a few steps away and buses run very frequently, I never had to wait more than five minutes). Additionally, there is a huge shopping center within a 10-minute walk.
The rooms are very spacious, not your typical small cabins. Well-equipped, and what a view! The waters of the Danube with ducks floating around. The staff is wonderful, always making sure that I was confortable, and providing guidance to explore the city.
Belgrade was a surprisingly pleasant experience, and Boatel Charlie had much to do with the great impression that I got about the place, and the great people of this beautiful Balkan country.
I feel so lucky to have spent two wonderful weeks in this boatel, and I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a great vacation spot.
