About this property
River Gardens Axedale Pet friendly B & B Farm stay - Motel Room
You’ll love the stylish decor of this charming B&B. After a home cooked breakfast spend hours wandering in the gardens, watch the birds that have made River Gardens their home or stroll along the river banks or the spectacular gardens. The river is literally jumping with fish if fishing is your thing. We have it all, but If you need a little more excitement, we are only 20 minutes from either Bendigo or Heathcote , 15 minutes to Lake Eppalock and 6 minutes to Heathcote Park Raceway
The River Gardens Homestead is an off the grid farmstead that overlooks the Campaspe river. Set in nearly 2 acres of spectacular gardens with water features and right on the banks of the Campaspe river, guests are ensured of having a restful holiday.
The unit and the hotel room are under the farmstead roofline but each have their own entrance. Only the laundry is a shared facility.
The property is 133 acres with 450 metres of river frontage. The home was purpose built with 2 areas at one end to be used as B&B rooms. One is a fully self contained unit with lounge, full kitchen, ensuite and walk in robe and the other is a motel style room with full ensuite and kitchenette.
Both rooms have split system heating/air conditioners, linen is supplied as are hair dryers and straighteners. The Unit has a 62 inch flat screen smart TV, the hotel room also has a flat screen TV but not quite so large! Each has a private lockable entrance with a rear door that opens to the shared laundry. We are totally off grid and run almost entirely on solar, though we do have NBN wifi.
The gardens are so spectacular that they are often opened to the public on the weekends with Devonshire tea served on the beautiful lawns.
You are welcome when staying to go anywhere on the property (except of course our own living areas) There are only 2 rules really, 1. if it was closed when you got there close it behind you and if you have a dog keep it on a lead. There is stock in most paddocks so closing gates behind you is crucial as is their well being (They do not like being chased by strange dogs).
Pets are welcome but must be on leads at all times and a pet fee is payable. Our cat, chickens, Guinea fowl and stock thank you in advance
Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a kitchenette, a washing machine, and a balcony. Change of towels is available on request.

Clean, good shower, had everything I needed and more, breakfast was amazing!
My cat loved making friends with the other cats, dogs, goats, chickens and guineafowl through the windows, she very much enjoyed her stay.
Hosts were delightful!
So nice to be out of the town, on a real farm.
In summary - quiet, rural, friendly. Beautifully decorated, comfy and warm room part of, but separate from, the main house. Lots of well behaved dogs, chooks, guinea fowl, cats to share the stay with. Bonus was the cooked breakfast! Axedale is on the rail bike trail and Bendigo has so much to offer!
The room was as to be expected according to pics displayed, but there was nil privacy. Attached to the main house, the walls are paper thin so every sound can be heard.
Woken up by tractors and owners working out the front of our room. There was no fenced off area so the pets could have a little outdoor freedom or to come and go when nature calls.
We were booked in for three nights but left and booked elsewhere in Bendigo after the first night. Forfeiting the cost outlayed for 3 nights, was minor, compared to our peace of mind and privacy and normal freedom expected from a pet friendly establishment.
Very disappointed.
