We really enjoyed our stay at Twin Dunes! It had everything you could possibly need with easy access to the beach, grocery store, and restaurants. The sand spurs and cactuses are something to watch out for especially with pets.

October stay

This was our first time staying in Avon. Have been booking this week for awhile in various places. The house is in an outstanding location; not ocean front but fabulous views and just steps away from beach access. Was so happy to find an affordable house that is pet friendly. We rescued a sweet little hound in the Spring that is afraid of everything that by weeks end came away a different little guy. So happy he was able to meet and greet other dogs and people. Communication with VRBO/VACASA was so easy and timely. We received notice in the afternoon that we could check in early. So appreciated. Communication prior to our visit and while we were there was again timely and much appreciated. The lift outside was a delightful surprise given the number of steps accessing the house. We found the house delightfully clean and equipped with everything we needed including a starter supply of paper products, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. There is a deck outside of the first floor where bedrooms are located and someone had left cigarette butts in an ashtray. Not so pleasant but we took care of it. Only other thing we found was cracks in ice cube trays in the freezer; again, no big deal. We did not use the hot tub but having the option was great. The weather was terrific! Highly recommend!!

This place is awesome. As close to beach front as possible, clean, nice beds, everything you need in the kitchen. Best spot I have stayed at in the Outer Banks.

First time staying in Avon

This house was in a great location! It had a nice long driveway which made the house sit back in a little further, so the property felt more private. The beach access was just steps away from the driveway! We were very grateful to find an affordable house that is pet friendly. The house was also very cute inside and you can tell there have been upgrades done to it. The kitchen was fully stocked and had anything you needed for cooking/cleaning. We loved the lift outside the front door to load most of our belongings to get upstairs. The kitchen/dining/living room area was big and had an open concept. The hot tub is on the top deck with an amazing beach view and we loved sitting on the deck at night. There is also a shopping plaza a minute drive away from the property, which was very convenient. Some cons: We were a little disappointed we didn’t get into the house any earlier than 5pm. And when we arrived to the house, the code I was given did not work and it took an hour to get a new code. Also, some of the jets did not work in the hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Avon and this property was very nice to enjoy for the week!

Upon our arrival our exportations were not met due to the cleanliness of the living space and the conditions of the sheets and comforters along with the infestation of ants, spiders and 2 huge cockroaches. The fitted sheets were torn on a couple of the corners and were not useable and which made the other corners pop off. The comforter in the orange bedroom had visible well chewed bubble gum stuck to it. Which was a very good indication it hadn’t been cleaned. The floors appeared not to have been swept or vacuumed along with the windows being so dirty you could hardly see through them. We had to purchase ant spray and ant traps for the kitchen and bedrooms and couch. Ants were actually crawling on the curtains. A safety concern was…. no lighting where we parked and the outside area at the main entrance. We had intermittent cable our entire stay and the last 2 days we didn’t have any cable or internet. We have vacationed before at the OBX and never had this experience. It was very disappointing to us. Especially since this vacation had been planned for months and everyone was so excited for this trip. We thought for the amount we paid for this rental it would have at least been clean with useable amenities.

Beach house with great amenities and close to beach!

Stayed in this house comfortably with my family, another family, and father-in-law and grandmother-in-law and dog . The house was clean with updated furniture and appliances. There was a great view of the ocean as well! The house was also in walking distance to food Lion which was really convenient. Would stay again!

Great home in a perfect location

We stay often in VRBOs, and this was by far the best equipped house with everything you would need in a kitchen, comfortable beds, quality deck furniture. Our family of 6 had plenty of room, could have fit up to 4 more easy. The house is located in a wonderful neighborhood with very little traffic, its on a culdesac surrounded by trees...you are not oceanfront, not first row back...you are halfway in between with a small house in front of you so you can see the ocean really well. The place seems to have been updated, nice appliances and comfortable furniture. Beach access is literally just out of the driveway. The only "but" I would add is that this isn't a true "by owner" as its 100% managed by a property mgmt company. We like dealing one on one with owners thus why we use VRBO. This property mgmt company was not responsive at all. In fact we sent emails with reasonable questions to better prepare for our visit and they literally didn't even respond. Had another question on day 2 so I left voice messages with both maintenance and customer service...once again, no response. Super frustrating. With that said, we do hope to stay here again, but really would like to deal with the owners.

Beautiful Beach Home, So Close To The Beach

This large beach home was not only beautiful from day one but it had any amenity we could have asked for. Very well stocked, clean home! Always such a blessing when we can take our two dogs with us to make our vacations even more memorable.
