Casa de Colores is exactly that! Filled with vibrant colors throughout the house. Located on the north end of Half Moon it’s an easy walk to Yal Ku Lagoon and Half Moon Bay. This house features four bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms plus there is a half bath in the common area. All of the bedrooms are furnished with king beds except for the Orange room which features a double futon and queen bed. The connected casita has a separate kitchenette and a small sitting area in addition to the sleeping area. There is a king bed in the casita.

The well equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking or not! Enjoy sharing meals in the dining area but feel free to dine al fresco on the patio! Take a refreshing dip in the private pool or just relax under the palapa shade. Casa de Colores is located on a rocky beach, but superb snorkeling is just a short walk away at Half Moon Bay or Yal Ku Lagoon! Take the collectivo, or a bicycle to downtown Akumal, it’s inexpensive and fun! With wireless internet and SMART TV, you feel right at home!

WONDERFUL PLACE!! Casa de colores was ideal for our group of eleven. Loved the house with bathrooms in each bedroom. The pool was perfect. The caretakers came daily to take care of the house and were amazing. The town of Akumal is super cute with great restaurants nearby. Would highly recommend the Chef Service and renting golf carts. We will be back.

We stayed at Casa de Colores as a group of nine, age range from teens to seniors. The house and grounds are beautiful, and the information from Shelly is super helpful to plan your stay. Everyone had their own space and there was so much to do in the surrounding area, or just to stay at the house and relax!

Spectacular house!

Casa de colores was even better than we had anticipated. The view is gorgeous, the house spacious and comfortable. Gabby and Zulma are friendly and helpful and keep the house in great shape. We loved feeling the sea breeze blowing through the windows and relaxing by the pool. The nearby snorkeling was wonderful at Yal-Ku and only a 5 minute walk away. The people of Akumal were friendly and welcoming. My family and I plan to return in the years to come.

wonderful vacation

We were so very happy with this property! Very clean and beautiful. All beds were comfortable, kitchen was well appointed, nice grill to use. We had plenty of beach towels, however it would have been nice to have more than one bath towel per guest to use. Having yal ku lagoon so close to snorkel in was enjoyable. We hope to be back again soon!

Perfect vacation1

I have stayed at Casa de Colores before and it was wonderful then, and just as wonderful this time. The house is beautiful and the views are amazing. Every morning having coffee on the front porch and watching the sunrise is just the best. Our group of 6 adults had plenty of room, and each bedroom was relaxing and well appointed. I can't say enough about Gaby and Zulma, the housekeeper and groundskeeper...they are just the nicest people and so hard working. If we go back to Akumal, we will definitely be staying at this little piece of heaven!!

Awesome Vacation

The house is located in the town of Akumal which is between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. It’s a great location for activities. Akumal is a nice little town that has some great local restaurants and a nice beach area. The house was clean and the house cleaners were friendly and did a great job. We had 12 people and everyone had a fantastic time. The host was easy to communicate with and gave us great ideas and clear instructions along with a packet of information before we arrived. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

Wonderful stay all around

The location is perfect, right next to the Yal-Ku Lagoon, close to a few fantastic restaurants, but far enough away that you get some peace and quiet as well. The house was lovely, and provided the perfect home base for the family. The host and team accommodated us last second, and we're so happy that it worked out. Could not make enough positive comments about the entire team and experience at Casa de Colores.

Wonderful location and perfect place to unwind. Our group of seven had more than enough space for group meals as well as privacy when needed. Very private and the local bike and golf cart rentals made travel to town simple. Plenty of local wildlife to watch while on the porch or by the pool. Kitchen was well equipped for basic meals and snacks. Great communication with the staff and owners through the entire process. Will stay again if our full group goes back.

My 50th birthday getaway

We were amazed when we first pulled up, the house looked bigger in person. Everything was to our liking, house match all the pictures online. The colors of the house are beautiful and the art work. We had a hard time figuring out how to hang the hammock, but Gabby (grounds keeper) was able to assist. Be prepared to have many iguana visitors, they’re the protectors of the property. From the description online the beach seemed much closer, stating 10-20 min walk. Not for us, so we rented a golf cart. Which was nice to drive around and see the town. Highly recommend the chef.

Absolutely Amazing!!

From the very moment I sent an email to the Shelly (the owner), I had an immediate response, and the excellent communication didn't stop. Shelly sent a very detailed brochure, which provides every detail about the house itself, as well as the town and area...and let me just say, the details are amazing! Each store/market/restaurant is summarized and even provides details on which ones don't take credit cards, so you are fully prepared. The house is exactly as described, although the pictures definitely don't do it the justice it deserves. The view of the ocean as soon as you enter the house is breathtaking! The kitchen is fully appointed with absolutely everything you could need. The pool is the perfect size, whether you want to swim laps, or just have a bunch of people floating around and enjoying the sun and drinks. Gaby and Zulma, the caretakers, show up every morning with smiles on their faces. They are so friendly and helpful...always there to help with questions or any needs we had. On Monday morning, when they arrived I mentioned that I was going to head to town to rent a golf cart for the week (really a must have for the town) and Gaby immediately called the owner of that company and arranged to have one delivered to us!! Hugo, one of the property managers, stopped by the house on Sunday (which was Easter, so definitely not something we expected), to say hello. He was very friendly and gave us more details about some of the places we were thinking about getting to while we were there. My daughters' 36th birthday was that Monday and Shelly ordered a birthday cake to be delivered from Turtle Bay Bakery. Such a special surprise and just such a sweet thing to do! The cake was delicious too! We used Chef Daveed's services for the birthday dinner and, once again, my expectations were FAR exceeded! Chef Marianela and her assistant Alejandro Ramirez cooked us the most delicious meal. Highly recommended!!! I can't say enough about the house itself, the property managers and Gaby and Zulma...then add how wonderful the town itself is, and you have a vacation in paradise!! One thing I did want to mention, the Yalku Lagoon is beautiful and within walking distance, however, be aware that wearing suntan lotion, of any kind, is prohibited. So, if you do go, just be aware of that fact and plan accordingly. We already have our next vacation there planned for December, and we can't wait to be back!

Vacation at it’s finest

Casa de Colores was exactly what our friend group consisting of 7 middle aged adults in need of an escape from work and kids needed! While it took a little bit to locate the house, no fault of Shelly we settled in nicely. Working with Gavby to get all our needs for golf carts, Covid screening and any other requests made it feel quite special. The rooms are well laid out with enough space to spread out if wanted but also large enough to accommodate a sizable group. The pool is perfect with plenty of sunshine or shade for everyone. The VIEW! Waking up to that was a highlight! While it’s not a swimming area, we enjoyed nice walks out to the rocks to enjoy the waves crashing. Plenty of other beach access available. This home is colorful and clearly has been built to bring more joy to the world. We could have stayed much longer than 8 days as we were wanting for nothing. This well appointed casa will be on the top of the list if AKUMAL, Tulum or Cancun are on the destination plans!

GORGEOUS house and view, but not quite for us...

The house is absolutely beautiful and so is the scenery! Four of us flew into Cancun airport, rented a vehicle, and stayed at this house for 9 nights. If you do not have a vehicle, you will likely need a golf cart and / or bicycle(s) since to walk to the stores and restaurants at the front of the community is a bit of a hike. The property is at the end of the community but its location provides an AMAZING view of the water! Although we enjoyed the beautiful house and property and exploring the area of Akumal etc., we will likely not stay here again unless the owner agrees to not have the house and grounds keeper (husband / wife team - Gabby and Zulma) in the house at 8:00 every morning. With only four of us, there was little mess except for emptying the trash cans which contained the toilet tissue that could not be flushed per instructions from the property owner. I would have gladly emptied the trash and could have done so in just a few minutes each day. My family would have been more comfortable with this, rather than having a stranger remove the trash that contained our soiled toilet paper. Also, the Staff linger for hours with little to do. They were usually at the house from 8:00 am until noon each day except Sunday. It seems that other guests liked having them but not our group. Each morning my mother in her night gown would watch the clock and rush to her bedroom when she heard the front door opening. I was sitting in the living room one morning and looked toward the dining room to find the house keeper watching me. All four of us staying in the house agreed that the Staff's presence felt like an invasion of our privacy and added a stress that should not have been experienced. If the house keeper must arrive to make the beds and empty the trash, a more reasonable hour for this would be 10 or 11:00 and from what I could see, everything needing to be done could have been taken care of in an hour. Once I paid for our stay, I learned that Staff would be on site from 8 to 12 each day and that tipping them at the end of the stay is expected - so much per person per day. Hopefully, the owner will decide to type this information into VRBO for those making a decision on where to stay. We went ahead and left the tip even though it was for a service that we did not need or want. Gabby and Zulma were nice people! I am also leaving a 5-star rating based solely on the fact that the house and property are GORGEOUS!

Perfect location, beautiful, well equipped, Extremely comfortable home. Pictures do not do this home justice! This beautiful home makes you feel at home the minuet you walk in. The attention to detail shines. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and desire plus more. Beds, pillows and linens are to die for comfortable. Bathrooms are well stocked and large with plenty of hot water and pressure. The two living areas are so very comfortable. There was plenty of space for our large group to mingle together or hide away alone for quite time. Casa De Colores is a hidden gem and well worth staying at! The view is to die for. We enjoyed the sunrises from the multicultural balcony’s, roof top and the Huge back porch and sunsets from the huge roof top deck from the hammocks. Everything about this home is huge! Our adult children enjoyed snorkeling Half moon bay right off the backyard. Said it was better then the snorkeling at Akumal beach. Plentiful amazing Restaurants walking distance. We did rent Golf carts as we had my elderly parents with us. We can’t wait to return in the near future!

THE PERFECT VACATION HOME

We were in complete awe when we arrived to casa de colores. EVERYTHING is AMAZING! Home was clean, comfortable, and the views! It was a dream to wake up to the ocean sunrise every morning and the moon shining every evening! Gabby and Sylma were so nice and greeted us every morning.. Casa De Colores is beautiful! So lovely this is our second time being there. Last time was about 10 years ago. It is a beautiful location. The rooms are private enough for each couple to have space and still have time together as a family. Hugo was the property manager and was amazingly responsive! Pool is a little chilly but my 12 year old was in it every day. Golf carts to get around are best for the location.

Perfection every where we turned!💚

Our stay at Casa De Colores was magical. From Sunrise yoga on the roof to quiet evenings by the pool. Our caretakers Gabrielle and Zulia were so sweet and kind. Beautiful property

So much to say about this property, but I'll start at the beginning. Shelly the home-owner is very good with communications. From the time I reached out for an inquiry she was always quick to respond and provide helpful information about the area. The documents she sends after you've made a down payment, shows that no stone was left unturned in thinking about what would a visitor need to know. The house is exactly like the pictures; HOWEVER when you are on the property viewing the surroundings nature has a "you have to be there" beauty that the eye cannot capture. There are nice subtle touches to the house that I thought helped to make it special, such as the book that explains how the house was built, the "little house" that's part of the property, having enough utensils, pots, pans and dinnerware to make a sit down dinner, the many brochures that can help for planning excursions, and the bird display that hang from the ceiling in the red room. All nice touches that says the homeowners love their home and care about making it a nice stay for vacationers. The team that is in Mexico supporting the house during our vacation stay was awesome. The property managers Monica and Hugo, the housekeeper Zulma and groundskeeper Gabi were ready to help and answer questions about the property or Mexico in general. Zulma was not a strong English speaker but it was easy to communicate with her. Gabi would translate if necessary. During our stay we experienced a hurricane. Shelly reached out the day before to assure us we'll be safe. The property manager and Gabi secured the house and provided us with extra water and flashlights. As an added bonus the neighbors across the street and beside the house were friendly and assured us we would be safe through the hurricane as well. The fridge didn't freeze water as fast as we would like, but that could be because we had 4 teens in our party and they were always thirsty opening and closing the fridge for drinks. Then we found a huge cooler and filled it with ice added the water and juice to the cooler...fridge problem solved! I've stayed at other vacation properties and the communication provided by Shelly before, during and after, by the property managers and Zulma and Gabi has far exceeded anything I've experienced before. Wonderful home and team working together. So glad we made Casa de colores our choice.

Fantastic Vacation

The place and our property manager (Monica), Gabin and Zulma were terrific. We got all the support we need. The only challenge was the electricity which is a general problem in the area rather than property specific, however when we had outages (we had an infant and 2 3 year olds so needed refrigerator) they were super helpful. Anyways, other than this minor issue this was a beautiful vacation with a lot of memories. Location is very central, casa colores is spacious, and can suggest everyone.

Fantastic stay in Akumal

We had an amazing stay in Akumal at Casa de Colores! It was fantastic for our group (bachelorette party) to be close enough to the action of Tulum/Puerto Aventuras/Playa but far enough to have some privacy and feel like you can get some R&R. Also, we appreciated the many activities and restaurants within walking distance to the VRBO. The staff maintaining the house is also incredible and were so helpful in maintaining the the property and being available for any questions we had in the area. Also - the property is GORGEOUS and the photos do not do it justice. Stay here, you won't regret it!

It was amazing!!!

Casa de colores was perfect for our group. The pool is perfect, all the rooms are equally great and the caretakers were fabulous. The kids loved it. Akumal is super cute. I would highly recommend renting a golf cart. We loved the lagoon. I would stay there again!
