Here Mom can do all her city heart desires –art galleries, micro-breweries, boutique shopping or an evening at the theatre. But chances are she’ll be content sipping mimosas poolside at the Hotel Del Coronado, where she can kick off her sandals and walk the warm sandy beach between chapters of her favorite book. Downside: The sand can get kinda hot before you hit the water.

La Jolla, California
