American Airlines' new dream liner

American Airlines’ new dream liner

May the port be with you
If you’re Caribbean bound in the near future, you may be setting sail with R2-D2 and Yoda. According to USA Today, Disney is planning eight Star Wars-themed cruises departing in early 2016 and featuring a deck party, Jedi Training Academy and more. Disney did not specify whether or not Darth Vader looks hot in a Speedo.

Love in plane sight
Is it possible to find romance at 30,000 feet? According to CNN this week, this happened to couple Lenny Spence and Marsha Bobb (now Spence) who met on an American Airlines flight from Jamaica to Miami where Bobb discovered Spence had stolen her window seat. Eventually, they both ended up down the aisle.

It’s a boat time
Rich women who are tired of boating with the fellas have a new reason to set sail. According to Yahoo! Travel, designer Lidia Bersani is proposing a super yacht just for ladies featuring a spa area with sauna, ice fountains and hammam baths, plus a beauty center and disco club. Perhaps she should name the ship No Buoys Allowed.

A loopy idea
Mass speed of sound travel may be on its way. According to Forbes, a company called Hyperloop Technologies is aiming to make hyperloop travel—which by using a vacuum-tube transport network could move people at a speeds of 760mph.—a reality. Of course, technology this futuristic could put science-fiction writers out of work.

Dream a little dreamliner
And finally, in travel news: According to Skift.com, the new 787-8 Dreamliner from American Airlines is here. Debuting June 2 with service from Dallas to Beijing, the long-haul plane features amenities like a walk-up bar, USB jacks and “Do Not Disturb” signs in business class. If you really want to build a dream airplane, include a free Ambien with beverage service.
